Today we finally received our first order of Kokka fabrics from Japan. They were sent by courier directly from Kokka’s warehouse and it took only 1 day to arrive. It’s definitely an advantage to be in Hong Kong

We ordered fabrics with prints like christmas deers, matryoshka animals, cute bears, black kitty, toadstools, Alice in Wonderland and matryoshka dolls. Below you can see 2 pics I took to show you how the fabric bolts were delivered. They came in 2 huge long packages wrapped with a very strong paper outside and plastic wrapping inside.

I got an email from one of our customers who sent me a picture of a bag she made with one of our fabrics. Its a really cute pink fabric with hamsters on it. She made a cute little handbag with it and will sell it in her own shop now.
I am always very excited to get emails from customers sending me pictures of their finished projects using our fabrics. Please send me pictures of your projects using our items and I will write a post about them and include a link to your shop.

Today we received new fabric swatches from Kokka in Japan. They are the newest designs from September 2009. Kokka releases every month new designs, therefore we get every month new swatches delivered and based on them, we place our orders.

Sorry about writing so much about Kokka in the last time but we are selling them so well since we started working with them together and we get updates about new designs often. I just want to share all these exciting news with you. There will be blog posts about our other products coming next, I promise!

Last night typhoon Koppu passed by Hong Kong pretty close and turned the city into a mess. Luckily, it didn’t hit Hong Kong directly because the storm was really strong and that would have been very dangerous for lots of people here. Below, you can watch a video some crazy storm chasers took here. It looks really scary and it was. We couldn’t sleep a lot last night and even our cat jumped when the gushes hit our windows and balcony door. Some villagers were really unlucky and their homes flooded chin deep. Yesterday, I got a call from Kokka telling me that they just got over 30 new fabrics in that were just released. They want to show us the fabrics, so we set up a meeting for today. Luckily, typhoon Koppu who went over Hong Kong last night, made landfall a few hours before the meeting, so it was safe to go out. It is pretty dangerous to leave your home during a typhoon in Hong Kong because of all the signs hanging above everywhere and quite a few fall every time. Anyway, we went to their office and we saw LOTS of super cute new designs. I can’t believe how their designers can come up with so many new cute designs every month. There were cute animals dressed as Matryoshkas, cute black kitty fabrics, little piggies with icecream cones and glitter, peach and cherry blossom fabric and so many more. I will post some pics of the newest Kokka fabrics after the swatches arrived. They will send them to us by courier tomorrow.

Today the courier delivered the Kokka fabric swatches we chose yesterday at the Kokka office. I have to say: LOVE LOVE LOVE them! The fabrics are super cute, great quality and the colours are so brilliant and colourful. Now, the hard job begins to choose which fabrics we are going to order for our shop. Today we had an appointment with Kokka who is the leading fabric manufacturer in Japan. They have lots of really cute and beautiful fabrics, so I contacted them in Japan and introduced our business to them. They were very interested in working with us together, so they set up a meeting with us in Hong Kong. Luckily, they have a Hong Kong office, so we didn’t need to fly to Japan for the meeting (although I would have really enjoyed a trip to Japan haha). We met with the boss from Japan, who is a really nice and friendly guy and his staff member, who his responsible for their Kokka customers. They showed us a lot of fabric and I was so excited. All these super cute, very detailed and amazing quality fabrics. I was immediately convinced that these fabrics are perfect for our shop and our customers. Everyone will just love them. The print and the colours are so detailed and clear, just incredible. So I chose all my favourite designs and they will prepare the swatches for us and send them by courier to our office tomorrow. I can’t wait to show these fabrics to our customers and order some fabric for our shop as soon as possible.

As I mentioned in a previous post, my husband quit his job to join my business full time and therefore we had to get him an office table as well. He was so looking forward to that, because he really wanted to have a very big table for his own work space. So we went to Ikea and ordered a big corner table for him. I took a few pics while he was assembling the table in our office. As you can see, he is super happy now (the position of the table is not the correct one, we will move it to it’s right position once he starts working).
