First Hello Kitty Dim Sum Restaurant opens in Hong Kong

You all know there are Hello Kitty inspired cafes, but you will be surprised to hear you can now feast on amazingly cute looking dumplings, steamed buns and Chinese pastries in the world’s first Hello Kitty Dim Sum Restaurant in Hong Kong. We found many pictures on L.A. times online and culture blogs, showing that just like the little white cat, the traditional Southern Chinese dish has become increasingly popular around the world in recent years. In particular in Hong Kong the original dim sum houses are a weekly ritual family meal, usually taken on weekend mornings. For Hello Kitty fans and lovers of Asian cuisine alike, there could hardly be a better way to spend a Sunday morning than a table of delicious steamed buns and tea with friends and family. The only challenge remaining is, the food nearly looks too cute to eat.

Rilakkuma riches. A golden bear for Hong Kong

Hong Kong cinema may not have won this year’s golden bear of the Berlin International Film Festival and the outlook for the Academy Awards isn’t too promising either. Luckily, a local jeweler has designed the city’s very own award winning decoration. We spotted this Giant Rilakkuma Gold Figurine along with a diamond necklace in Hong Kong’s prestigious district Causeway Bay. Price information was only available upon request, but we think the lazy bear is a priceless treasure anyways. Rilakkuma is always stress free and relaxed and enjoys eating pancakes and pudding. We just can’t help, but think he is the true jewel here.

Fun Latte Art with cartoon characters in Hong Kong’s Cafe R&C

In Hong Kong’s district Causeway Bay you can visit a restaurant and request your own cartoon character on your coffee. Cafe R&C draws any cartoon character on your coffee that you request and also writes your name next to it. What a fun idea! We found many cool pictures on the U-Travel Blog with latte art with Japanese characters like Minna No TaboPom Pom Purin and Doraemon but we also saw pictures with designs from Monsters University. You can even watch how the character is drawn onto your coffee based on a picture. What character would you choose?

Pinklloween Halloween spider in Hong Kong

If you’re afraid of spiders you might not like this installation. Throughout the whole month of October you could visit gigantic hot pink spiders in Miramar Shopping Centre and Mira Mall in Hong Kong. They are part of Pinklloween and not only build up the anticipation for Halloween but also raise awareness to breast cancer, as October is breast cancer awareness month. And let’s be honest – they don’t look that scary. Do you like them?

Mid-Autumn Festival toy lanterns in Hong Kong

Mid-Autumn Festival is already over, but we haven’t shown you all our pictures yet. And as the mid-autumn lanterns in Hong Kong are always so pretty and colorful – it would be a shame not to show them. This year’s theme of the main lantern display in Hong Kong’s Victoria Park was childhood memory toys.

World in Colours Mid-Autumn Lanterns in Hong Kong

It’s time for lanterns and mooncakes again. The Mid-Autumn Festival is coming up in Hong Kong and you can find beautiful lantern installations throughout the city. We already visited the World in Colours display in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza in Tsim Sha Tsui. The lanterns show people from all around the world. Even though it is quite stereotypical and sometimes also political incorrect the lanterns still look pretty.
