Today we had a visit from a Kokka employee because they wanted to show us the newest designs they just released. That’s so super convenient when the suppliers come to your office to show you their newest collection. I must say, I LOVE LOVE LOVE their new collection. There are so many adorable, cute, kawaii, lovely fabrics, it will be really hard to choose which ones we will order. Unfortunately, I cannot order all of them because there is a budget limit Below you can see some of my favourite new fabrics from Kokka. I hope we will get them for our shop soon.

Today we had a visit from our supplier from Japan. He represents all the popular fancy stationery brands like Q-Lia, Kamio, Crux, Poolcool, Mindwave, Kutsuwa etc. from Japan. His responsibility is exporting these items overseas. We are working with him for just a short while, as I wrote about in an earlier blog post: New Fancy Japanese Stationery Supplier. He was visiting a trade fair here in Hong Kong and we set up a meeting so we could finally meet in person and discuss our future business collaboration. It went really well, he brought lots of new catalogs (he sends us new catalogs every 2 weeks from Japan) with the latest collections and some samples. We are going to place another order shortly as the Japanese stationery items sell really well. I can’t wait to get the new cute stationery items. It is always very exciting to open those parcels

Yesterday, I got a call from Kokka telling me that they just got over 30 new fabrics in that were just released. They want to show us the fabrics, so we set up a meeting for today. Luckily, typhoon Koppu who went over Hong Kong last night, made landfall a few hours before the meeting, so it was safe to go out. It is pretty dangerous to leave your home during a typhoon in Hong Kong because of all the signs hanging above everywhere and quite a few fall every time. Anyway, we went to their office and we saw LOTS of super cute new designs. I can’t believe how their designers can come up with so many new cute designs every month. There were cute animals dressed as Matryoshkas, cute black kitty fabrics, little piggies with icecream cones and glitter, peach and cherry blossom fabric and so many more. I will post some pics of the newest Kokka fabrics after the swatches arrived. They will send them to us by courier tomorrow.

Today the courier delivered the Kokka fabric swatches we chose yesterday at the Kokka office. I have to say: LOVE LOVE LOVE them! The fabrics are super cute, great quality and the colours are so brilliant and colourful. Now, the hard job begins to choose which fabrics we are going to order for our shop. Today we had an appointment with Kokka who is the leading fabric manufacturer in Japan. They have lots of really cute and beautiful fabrics, so I contacted them in Japan and introduced our business to them. They were very interested in working with us together, so they set up a meeting with us in Hong Kong. Luckily, they have a Hong Kong office, so we didn’t need to fly to Japan for the meeting (although I would have really enjoyed a trip to Japan haha). We met with the boss from Japan, who is a really nice and friendly guy and his staff member, who his responsible for their Kokka customers. They showed us a lot of fabric and I was so excited. All these super cute, very detailed and amazing quality fabrics. I was immediately convinced that these fabrics are perfect for our shop and our customers. Everyone will just love them. The print and the colours are so detailed and clear, just incredible. So I chose all my favourite designs and they will prepare the swatches for us and send them by courier to our office tomorrow. I can’t wait to show these fabrics to our customers and order some fabric for our shop as soon as possible.

I was looking for a supplier for the popular fancy stationery brands from Japan for quite a while now. These brands are: Q-lia, Mind wave, Crux, Kamio, Coolpool, Cram Cream etc. I wanted to order directly from Japan to make sure that we get the best price possible and also the newest items as soon as they are available. So today, Alan and I went to their office, which is surprisingly just a 5min drive by taxi from our office, and met with the boss. She was a very nice lady and we talked for 2 hours about our future collaboration and she also gave us tons of catalogs with all the super cute stationery items inside. We also visited their warehouse and picked up quite a lot of items to put them quickly into our shop. We are going to order from them very often from now on because these cute, kawaii items are just the perfect match for our kawaii shop. Today a very good customer from France visited us at our new office. They placed a few orders already and wanted to finally meet in person and discuss future collaborations with us. I also showed them some items from our showroom and they took them with them to show to their customers. My customer is a buyer for big companies like Carrefour in France, therefore this business opportunity is really great for us and them as well. I am really looking forward to keep working together with them in the future.

I got a visit from 2 representatives from Alibaba.com today. Alibaba is the biggest sourcing website for finding suppliers in China and Asia. Until now we had a free account there to promote our company and products to possible customers in Europe and USA. We get enquiries almost every day but having a free account has a big disadvantage: the number of products is limited to 50pcs only. A friend of mine got a Gold Membership last year but never activated it because of personal reasons and he offered me to take over his membership for free. That is a really generous offer because usually these memberships cost around 40,000 HKD (~ 4,000 EURO) per year.  I promised him to send him a cheque if we find a lot more customers with this new account. So the guys from Alibaba came to check out my office and verify the business address. I will get the new Gold Member account within the next few days and I will be able to upload and promote as many products I have. Keeping my fingers crossed to find more potential wholesale customers for my business.

An old customer of us visited me today in my office. He is from Germany and wanted to see our current products. Last year in April he visited me for the first time, I wrote about it here. He was our first visitor visiting us at our new office. Today, he ordered some items we had in stock and we may be also helping him to make a new online shop and optimize it for Google. His current shop isn’t suitable for Google and Alan will be able to optimize it for him. Alan is really knowledgeable about Google Search Engine Optimization and a very skillfull programmer.
