My sis is coming to Hong Kong

YAY, my sister Marion told me today that she is going to visit me in Hong Kong this July. It will be her first time in Hong Kong, even in Asia! How exciting! This will be a very fun time as we love going out together, clubbing, dancing, drinking and having fun. I miss my family and this will be a great chance to spend lots of time with my “little” sis. I will definitely write some posts about what we are doing while she is here. 🙂

Raining in the Office

OK, here we go again, another problem with the office. While I was working I heard a dripping sound coming from the bathroom. I thought “oh no, not again”. When I checked it out I saw water dripping from the fan and the floor was wet. Great, another leak. I called my husband immediately to tell the landlord about that. A little bit later the door bell rang and the guy from upstairs was in front of my door. He apologized once again and said that he was using some water pressure machine to clean his bathroom. We found out that the water was dripping in from outside and the fan isn’t really water proof. We will need to fix that soon as the raining season will start in June.

French Visitors

Today we had a visit from a french company who is looking for new suppliers for their shops. It is really interesting to meet people from around the world. They are very interested in our skulls fashion items. Let’s see if they will place an oder with us.

Free samples *yeah*

I have to admit, I couldn’t overcome the temptation to order some samples for myself at the trade fairs I visited the last weeks. There were so many gorgeous Christmas decorations, useful household items etc. So I pretended that I am interested in their products and ordered some samples. These days I received a few parcels containing some really beautiful candles, silicon baking forms and some ceramic knives (Alan plans to do some business with them though). Sometimes it is really useful to have a company he he…

Designer Corporation

Today we had a visit from Marcus. He is a student at a Fashion Design College and has some really interesting t-Shirt designs. We talked about a possible future corporation and told him what we are looking for. We need more clothes, especially men-clothing in our shop, so we want to work together to develop some new interesting, unique designs that fit to our current collections. We gave him some input and he will start doing some sketches and show us later on. I’m very curious about the result of this corporation and I am quite sure you will see his t-Shirt designs in our shop soon. I will keep you guys posted about the results.

Olympic Games tickets cheat

I love horses since I am a child, so I planned to watch the Olympic Equestrian Events. Luckily they show them here in Hong Kong and not in Beijing. A few days ago, I went to the official Ticket Seller website and saw that I can book the tickets online. I thought “Great!” and booked around 4x 2 tickets. I waited for a confirmation email, call or anything else but nothing happened. So today I called to their office and asked what’s going on. The woman laughed (!) at me and said: “Cannot book online. Only in branch. Many people call and are angry.” And she laughed again. This is not funny at all! Why the hell are they offering online booking when the tickets cannot be booked? So I asked if there are any tickets left, of course NOT 🙁 I am REALLY angry now! Such a crap service! The company’s name is China Travel Service. I recommend, never ever use them if you want reliable, good service.

Cute kawaii fans samples

Today I finally received the samples I ordered from the factory I found on the trade fair in April. I got some really cute fans and the quality is really good. Not the usual bad quality I am used to get as samples. The only problem is the MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) for these items. I would need to order at least 3,000 sets. So I am not sure yet if I am going to order them. That’s a lot of fans to sell.

New Newsletter software

I got a new newsletter software which I can connect with my software Afterbuy. We use Afterbuy for the online shop, managing eBay auctions, our product database and handling the purchases. I was on the lookout for a suitable newsletter provider for a while and I decided to use CleverReach. After testing and trying out all the functions I wrote our first newsletter for our customers. It took a while to set up a nice design and write the whole newsletter but the coming newsletters will be much faster written as I can save my newsletters as templates. I hope my customers enjoy this service and get informed about new products first and special sales that only our newsletter subscribers can enjoy.

If you want to sign up for our newsletter and be the first to see our newest items and get special discounts, please sign up on our website (lower right box). I plan to write regular newsletters for both our end customers and our wholesale customers.

Threat from Chinese guy

I received a threat on my blog from a Chinese guy, threatening me that he will destroy my business if I keep on writing critically about the Chinese government. The comment was made on my post about the visa problems many foreigners have after the Chinese government suddenly changed the rules for entering China. Some people are really just ridiculous. The complete comment was:

DO NOT CRITICISE OUR GOVERNMENT OR WE WILL SHUT DOWN YOUR WEBPAGE AND BUSINESS.”

Interestingly the IP address from the writer is a computer In Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Now I am really scared. ha ha… His email address was a @china.gov – address. I guess he thought he can impress and scare people with that.

I am not the only one receiving threats from crazy Chinese, a friend of mine got a similar one: GMtee. He is selling t-shirts with the Tibetan flag on it and got the following email: “DO NOT SELL FREE TIBET T-SHIRT! DO NOT CHALLENGE CHINESE PEOPLE!”

Hong Kong Torch Relay

Today was the Olympic Torch Relay in Hong Kong. As i was warned in advance about it this time I decided to stay at home and watch the event from my balcony until the bridge is opened again. I live in Park Island which is a small island right next to the beautiful Tsing Ma Bridge. The torch relay was scheduled to take place on the bridge around noon. I shot a photo with my camera:

As the air pollution was really bad today (poor guys who had to run and breath in that air), I attach another photo with the view from our balcony on a nice unpolluted day:
