Unfortunately, Kokka doesn’t make fabric buttons with their cute fabrics, but we do get lots of questions from customers asking about Kokka buttons. Therefore we decided to make them ourselves. We do have quite a big selection of Kokka fabrics now and many of them are suitable for making buttons. The size of the characters on the fabric are just the right size for buttons. We used our popular Matryoshka Animals fabric and the winter deer fabric for making the first buttons. See below some pictures of how we make those buttons and the finished cute Kokka buttons:

I went to Taste, a local Hong Kong supermarket, today and found something really interesting: they had “fake” Kokka bedsheets! The beedsheets’ fabric is copied from the Matryoshka Animals Kokka fabric, the characters are just oversized. Even Kokka is not safe from fakes anymore. Have a look at the photos I took in the supermarket:

We just ordered some Robert Kaufman fabrics from the US today. This is the first time we order Robert Kaufman fabrics and we are very excited about that. The fabrics all very cute, kawaii fabrics including the collection “Toyland by Bored Inc” and with patterns like deers, owls, cupcakes, flowers and funny cute suns. Here are some of the fabrics we will have in our shop soon:

We got a huge delivery of new deco tapes with more than 100 new designs today. There are many patterns like Alice in Wonderland, Matryoshka dolls, cute animals, sweets, candy, cupcakes, cakes, macaroons, mushrooms and many many more. Deco tapes can be used for many different things, like decorating your stationery, homeware, kitchen and bathroom tiles, your bike and anything else you can think of.

We had a fun DIY day in our office today. Pui Chi, my sister-in-law, came to our office to start her own new project. We work together with her to help her make her own chop collection and she will also make some buttons for our shop. We ordered all the machines and equipment already and today we tried out all of them. She made some really cute buttons with some leftover Hello Kitty fabrics and Japanese fabrics. Then we tried out the chop machine. I was really surprised, the chop making machine is amazing. The quality of the final product is really, really good. I documented our day with some pictures:

first step to make a chop: we designed it on a computer, then printed it on special paper

next step cutting out the chop sponge and transfer the image onto the sponge with the special machine

we dropped a few drops of ink onto the chop sponge and started testing. The result is very nice and very detailed.

We finally have Re-Ment miniature products in our shop! Re-Ment is famous for cute miniature items, hand-painted and of very high quality from Japan. They have lots of miniature cake, sweets, donuts, ice cream, food, cute animals and characters, Hello Kitty miniature and many many more. The interesting thing about Re-Ment items is that they come in a box with multiple small boxes or packages inside. Those boxes/packages are sealed and you cannot see what is inside. They are called “blind boxes“. Every collection has usually around 8-12 different themes, and each box/package has one theme inside. So you will be surprised which item you get. We had some fun and built a cute tower with some of the Re-Ment boxes, have a look at the pics

We have a new Facebook Fanpage landing page! This is a new feature on Facebook and we had to get one so people can get an overview over our fanpage without having to go through all the wall posts. The landing page is the first page people see when they are not our fans on Facebook yet and go to our fanpage. The result is a really cute landing page, I think it is very suitable for our kawaii online shop. We have a YouTube channel where we posted a few videos about our office, work and products so far. Today we got our first subscriber! I know that’s nothing really special but I thought it’s a good occassion to mention our YouTube channel here on our blog.
