Her mission is to add beauty to products through the use of print, pattern, and color. And she totally succeeds. Meet fabric designer Rebekah Ginda and her work for the organic fabric label birch.
2013 is a big year for the American Textile & Surface designer Rebekah Ginda, as she has lots of different projects going on: 6 fabric collections will be launched, as well as a series of e-books for children which she illustrates. She also has lots of new ideas for her own stationery line, ‘Rae Schmae’. But back to the fabrics.
Rebekah has been working with Birch Organic Fabric for a little over a year now. Her second collection, Robotic, is just about to be launched in March. We’re sure we will have it in our shop soon, but currently you mainly find Rebekah Grinda fabrics from her ‘Scamper’ collection on modes4u.com. birch fabrics are the only ones carrying her name on them, but she also designed organic collections for Westfalenstoffe and is also active for labels in the Australian market.
Her fun and colourful designs are inspired by her daily life: “I am particularly inspired by vintage children’s book illustrations, as well as retro color palettes, sunny days, and trips to the flea market. I love drawing things that can can only exist as illustrations and are full of whimsy. I try not to take my designs too seriously or over-think them, because I have found that my best work comes when I draw from the heart in a moment of inspiration.”
Rebekah studied Apparel Design in Seattle and now lives with her family in the pretty German city Münster. They recently welcomed a new family member, a couple of weeks ago Rebekah gave birth to her daughter Luna Marie.
