Every now and then you see cute Hello Kitty food in the supermarkets of Hong Kong if there are special promotions or holidays. Then you’ll find Hello Kitty sweets, cookies or even whole food series like pasta or sauces. But now we discovered the little cat on an item that couldn’t be more typical for Hong Kong: Cup Noodles. Instant Noodles are sooo common and popular in Asia, every supermarket has large shelves with lots of different flavours and brands, every convenience store holds at least a small selection of instant noodles. And now we found cute Hello Kitty Noodles with soy sauce flavour. Do you think the noodles will be shaped like Hello Kitty? If we get some we’ll let you know.

When Sandra and Alan visited Austria they saw an adorable Hello Kitty collection in a Swarovski store and took a couple of pictures. Swarovski is a company based in Austria that manufactures crystal jewelry and products. They are really well known throughout the world. In June they launched their first Hello Kitty collection which they developed in collaboration with Sanrio. There are little figures, necklaces, rings, jewelry sets, but also some leather goods and bags. Everythings shines and sparkles. How do you like those more exclusive Hello Kitty items?

We wish all of you a very Happy Chinese New Year. We hope you’ll have a lot of luck, happiness and good health in the year of the dragon. And of course it is hopefully filled with cuteness. Therefore Hello Kitty sends you greetings too. We have to admit that this greeting card is already a bit older and actually celebrates the year of the rat which was a couple of years ago. But it is just so cute!

Today the big celebrations start in Hong Kong. Until Wednesday there will be lots of stuff going on like parades and fireworks. PLEASE DON’T FORGET: We can’t ship any orders between January 23rd and January 25th, as those days are public holidays in Hong Kong for Chinese New Year and all post offices are closed. We will start shipping again on Thursday, January 26th.

Happy Chinese New Year with Hello Kitty

Uh, especially all girls will love these new sets. We now have a super cute Disney Compact Mirror Re-Ment in our shop. It consists of 4 different mirror types with Cinderella, Snow White or Alice in Wonderland on them. The mirror charms are really embellished in a beautiful way and look very noble. Some mirrors are folding mirrors which you can flip open.

This will be for the ladies too. We bought a few items of some tiny Hello Kitty handbags offered by Re-Ment and are very curious to see how you like them. They are made of plastic and are very cute and bright in colours. The Hello Kitty designs printed on each bag are adorable.

Last but definitely not least there is a new Disney food set. You will absolutely love it, it looks really awesome. It’s a surprise bag with 4 different Re-Ments, especially the Bagel Re-Ment looks amazing.

Chinese New Year is almost there and even if you don’t have a clue about it, you can definitely tell that it’s a big thing. At least if you live in Hong Kong, because by now - one week before the celebrations – the whole city has turned into a place of red and gold decorations. And as we have entered the crunch-time of preparing for the festivities, we found a lot of stuff we want to share with you. Because a lot of our favourite characters appear on Chinese New Year decorations.

Especially on Fai Chuns – paper decorations with good wishes that you can hang in your home – you can find cute characters like Hello Kitty, Rilakkuma, My Melody, Mickey or Minnie Mouse. Often the characters are combined with other symbols important for Chinese New Year such as mandarines, ingots (gold nuggets) or dragons (2012 is the year of the dragon), which mean good luck or prosperity. Fire cracker decorations (of course no real firecrackers) are also really popular as a Chinese New Year decoration. And the red envelopes or red packets must not be missing either. Those little paper envelopes are passed out during the celebrations filled with money. Usually married couples give them to unmarried juniors, adults give them to children too.

Hey, isn’t that good news? Re-Ment announced two new sets, which will be released in Japan in January and February. They both are food Re-Ments with delicious dishes and candy. The first one to be released is a cute Minnie Mouse Re-Ment Set with lots of pastry, cupcakes and sweets. It also has an impressive and really huge birthday cake, the kind of cake every person dreams about. The set consists of 8 parts, will be released in Japan on the 23rd of January and is just perfect to be displayed in the Mickey & Minnie Re-Ment Showcase that we recently added to our shop.

On February 13th a new Hello Kitty set will be unleashed on Japan. It’s a really adorable Happy Birthday Re-Ment consisting of 6 sets with a great cake and more lovely birthday food. A nice gimmick: You can take out one piece of the cake, so you have two ways to display it. C-U-T-E.

Groupbuying websites are really in popular in Hong Kong at the moment. There are a lot of different sites that offer special deals where you can save a lot of money for certain products or services, but only if enough people buy it. You really find a lot of offers from restaurants and for beauty products or spas, but we also saw quite a few ones for cute items with our favourite characters.

One of the most interesting things was a deal on the platform Groupon, offering traditional Chinese Turnip Pudding and Red Bean CNY Pudding from Maxim’s cakes in Hello Kitty Style. Those two dishes are a specialty for Chinese New Year, which is starting at the end of January. On other groupbuying platforms we found cute Hello Kitty headphones plugy jacks or even the cute Little Red Riding Hood shopping bag.

You can tell that Chinese New Year is approaching. Almost all stationery shops in Hong Kong are covered in red, as they sell thousands of cards and decoration material for that holiday at the end of January. In every supermarket you find tons of special candy to buy as presents. The 7-Eleven convenient stores still have their Tokidoki x Hello Kitty promotion going that we already posted on the blog. But a couple of days ago they also adapted their decoration to the celebration ahead. So now all 7-Elevens have a special Chinese New Year Hello Kitty design. The center of the decoration is the cute Hello Kitty charm on the dragon of the Tokidoki series, as the year of the dragon is coming.

Hong Kong is packed with cute stuff from Rilakkuma, Sentimental Circus, Kutusita Nyanko, Hello Kitty, Kuromi and many more characters we love. You can get eveything with your favourite character on it. Yes, even food. Today we show you some very sweets cakes that we discovered during the last days. Aren’t they just adorable?

There are basically two types of character cakes: The ones that are really shaped like the figures such as the Angry Birds cakes you can currently get at Hong Kong’s Maxim’s cakes and the ones that use the characters as embellishments like the Hello Kitty cake we also saw at Maxim’s or the Rilakkuma series of Saint Honore Cake Shop.
