FREE sewing pattern for a gorgeous large bag!

There usually comes a time around November when you can’t help thinking about Christmas presents.  Soon, you find yourself closely looking at shop windows, and almost unintendedly entering shops and browsing products while making the daily rounds… That is just another sweet symptom of the yearly Christmas fever!

Well, here is a beautiful item that will lend style to your Christmas shopping quest:  an awesome one handle bag made with Kokka fabrics, featuring an original sewing pattern by Japanese designer Yui Tamaki.  She certainly makes the most out of the catchy deer fabric chosen for the project!

As you will see in the images included below, the bag looks both casual and elegant, thanks to its simple lines, the witty addition of a metal ring and, first and foremost, the gorgeous embroidered echino fabric with its rich colours and texture!  We have added in some pictures of other Japanese fabrics, to help you get inspired.

This is not a difficult project, so go ahead and try this wonderful free sewing pattern by Kokka at once!  Surely you noticed already that such a gorgeous deer bag is also a great gift for fashion lovers?  Do send us pictures of your finished projects, we love seeing and sharing them!

You can make one of these as a gift for someone!

What to sew: Kokka and echino fabrics

Kokka showed some really beautiful examples of what you can sew with their fabrics at the Spring Quilt Market in the USA. As we carry most of the echino fabrics, Melody Miller fabrics and Ellen Lucket Baker fabrics they displayed on the trade show we took lots of pictures of how the fabrics were used for different sewing projects. You could see many  bags sewed with echino fabrics, we loved especially the ones made with the echino rhino fabrics. Collections like echino rhythm and echino twin were great designs for making bags as well. As the fabrics have lots of different patterns which are arranged in stripes, they create a stunning patchwork look.

We also loved the dress, bags and cushions that were made with Ellen Lucket Baker’s citrus tree fabric or the little canvas flower fabrics. And Melody Miller’s retro prints just look amazing on home decor.

What customers make with our fabrics: girl’s dress and dog collar

Time to show off some adorable products some of our customers made with our fabrics. Cherie Amelie from Portugal sewed a super cute girl’s dress with our Little Red Riding Hood Kokka fabric. She posted a whole album full of adorable pictures of her little model posing for the camera, who obviously felt very comfortable in that wonderful summer dress. Unfortunately that fabric is currently sold out in our shop, but we still have many other kawaii Little Red Riding Hood fabrics in stock.

Our UK customer Emily from Leading the Pack made super cute dog collars with our fabrics. That’s an awesome idea, we haven’t seen anything like this done before. Especially the funny Timeless Treasures dog paw fabric is really great for a dog collar. We love it.

If you also want to show us what you made with our fabrics or other crafting products from our shop, just post a picture on our Facebook wall. We always appreciate it.

Japanese Kokka buttons available

Unfortunately, Kokka doesn’t make fabric buttons with their cute fabrics, but we do get lots of questions from customers asking about Kokka buttons. Therefore we decided to make them ourselves. We do have quite a big selection of Kokka fabrics now and many of them are suitable for making buttons. The size of the characters on the fabric are just the right size for buttons. We used our popular Matryoshka Animals fabric and the winter deer fabric for making the first buttons. See below some pictures of how we make those buttons and the finished cute Kokka buttons:

Blog post about our Alice in Wonderland fabric

Zakkalife wrote another blog post about one of our Kokka fabrics, the pink Alice in Wonderland fabric. She got that fabric a while ago and had some leftover and decided to make cute Alice hairclips with them. I really like the matte finish of the hairclips. Have a look at them:
