mt Casa Washi Tapes for walls and furniture

If you are looking for a new and easy way for home decoration the answer is here: Washi Tapes from the mt Casa series. The Japanese Masking Tape manufacturer mt especially designed these tapes to be used for decorating walls, furniture, tiles etc. As you can see on the pictures from the little booklet that mt released the Washi Tapes can be used to decorate anything at your home. There is no need to paint walls or hang wallpaper anymore, as the tapes can be stuck to the walls and be removed anytime without leaving any trace. The tapes stick on almost all materials such as wood, plastic, wallpaper, tiles, glass etc.

The mt Casa series is a great for decorating children’s rooms, colour up white or single-coloured furniture or walls, write messages or decorate for holidays such as Christmas or Easter.

We carry most of the tapes from the series and every colour and pattern we have is available in 3 different widths – 5cm, 10cm or 20cm. There are lots of single-coloured tapes but also a couple of designs with dots or flowers. Be sure to check out the video at the end of this post to learn what you can do with mt Casa.

DIY Mother’s Day Craft with Washi Tape

We have a super cute, fast and cheap idea for a very personal Mother’s Day gift: Make a wall decoration with your own silhouette for your mother. It’s a great variation from giving framed pictures of yourself and just takes a few minutes to make. All you need are a couple of Washi Tapes, a side-face picture of yourself, a pair of scissors, a pen and some baking paper. This is how we did it:

1. Stick your picture with some tape on a window, stick your baking paper over it and sketch the outline of your head with a marker or pen.

2. Use different Masking Tapes to stick over the sketch on the sheet of baking paper. Make sure the tape stripes always overlap the outline and always stick it a bit onto the previous stripe, so that all the stripes are well connected (otherwise you’ll have trouble taking your silhouette off the baking paper later).

3. Turn the baking paper sheet around and cut out the silhouette.

4. Carefully remove the Washi Tape silhouette from the baking paper. Be sure you start removing the paper on the first stripe you stuck.

5. Stick the silhouette onto the wall.

Of course you can modify this technique in any way you want. For example you could make two silhouettes (your mother and yourself facing each other) or you could put your silhouette on a card or frame it. We really like the idea of sticking it directly on the wall and surprising your mother with it. You can easily remove the picture to another spot, it will come off very easily without a trace.

More Washi Tape ideas from mt

Just a couple of days ago we showed you a leaflet from mt with ideas what to do with their Washi Tapes. Guess what, we have another one. Here we especially like the home decoration ideas, for example to use it as a measuring stick for children or to decorate your walls and furniture with it as seen in the picture with the coat rack. Our favourite, however, is the idea to use Masking Tape to embellish jewelry? Isn’t that brilliant? You can change the colours all the time as you can just tear of the old tape and use new ones with different patterns. What is your favourite idea from the pictures below?

Valentine’s Day craft: Washi Tape heart

Just in time for Valentine’s Day we embellished our office with Washi Tape. We just took a couple of our pink Washi Masking Tapes and stuck a big heart on one of our white office walls. The whole project didn’t take longer than 10 minutes and was lots of fun to make. You can do any shape you want or write any text you desire.

It is a great and super easy way to decorate for Valentine’s Day. You can surprise your sweetheart with a personal love message or take your picture with your Washi Tape creation to give it away as a card.

10 days until Christmas

Less than two weeks until Christmas Day. If you still need to get Christmas presents, write Christmas cards and prepare festive decoration it might be a very stressful time for you. Luckily our decoration tips with Washi Tape – our favourite Christmas crafting product of the year – will only take some minutes.

1. Washi Gift Wrapping

Just put some stripes of tape on single-coloured paper or even the blank gift box and you’re done. You’ve crafted a unique gift wrapping and it will just take you a few minutes.

2. Washi Wall Decoration

We have tried it for the first time this year and love it! We stuck a Christmas tree with different Washi Tapes on one of the white walls in our office. It’s fun, easy and can be removed without any traces.

3. Washi Christmas Tree Balls

We have seen quite a few Washi Christmas Tree balls on different blogs and totally love the idea of embellishing transparent or single-coloured Christmas tree ornaments with Masking Tape.

4. Washi Window Decoration

Masking Tape is also great for creating fun Christmas window decorations. As it is super thin rice paper it looks very pretty when the light falls through it.

We’re crafting a Washi Christmas Tree

It was about time to give our new office a Christmas look. And as we have quite a few white walls here, we decided to embellish them our own way: With Washi Tapes. Now we have a wonderful Masking Tape Christmas tree in our office and everybody participated in making it. It was very easy to do and lots of fun. All of us made at least one Christmas tree ornament and could design it any way he or she wanted.

So how to do it?

Make the outline of a tree with Masking Tape. You can try to make the shape of a real fir tree, or you go for the easy triangle version as we did. The outer line of our tree also consists of two tape layers, we chose one light green and one darker green tape. For the Christmas tree balls we just cut out circles of paper and decorated them with all kinds of Masking Tape. Then we stuck them on the tree and voila: done.

After Christmas we can just remove it without leaving any traces on the wall. We also adjusted the tape several times when making the outline, as we were not that satisfied with the shape. Washi tape just rocks!

40 days until Christmas

Time to start your Christmas preparations. Christmas cards are a great thing you can already prepare now. You might think that crafting cards yourself is a lot of work, but it really is not. At least if you have the right material it is a matter of minutes. We totally recommend Japanese Washi Tape for this. Just by adding a couple of stripes to some cardboard you can already create a personal and creative card. And also making shapes out of tape like Christmas trees or Christmas tree balls is an easy thing to do. The more additional techniques you use, e.g. drawings, stamps the more elaborate your card becomes. The result is always great when using Masking Tape!

You can use seasonal Christmas tapes for your crafting, but ‘neutral’ designs work as well as you can see on the pictures we found on some creative blogs.

We found such great home decoration ideas, which will make you totally enjoy autumn. In a little catalog that was released by mt we saw this beautiful Washi Tape tree. What a great and simple idea. Collect some colourful autumn leaves outdoor and create your own autumn tree at home by just putting some tape stripes on a wall. And if you don’t want it anymore, you can remove it without leaving any trace.

And to decorate some candy jars or other items at your home with the colourful happy tapes will also help improving your mood on cold, icky autumn days.
