We craft a Washi Easter Tree

You might have noticed that it is our latest passion to embellish our office with Washi Masking Tape for any holiday (see our Christmas craft and Valentine’s Day craft). As Easter is not far away we decided to craft an Washi Easter Tree. Again it was really fast, easy and lots of fun. We even made a little Easter bunny. Here is how to do it.

1. Cut out egg shapes from paper and stick stripes on Washi Tape on them. You can do any pattern or combination you want. When you cut out the Washi eggs again, leave a little border of tape, so that the eggs will stick to the wall.
2. Take a dark Washi Tape to create an Easter tree on the wall. Then just stick the eggs on it.

We’re crafting a Washi Christmas Tree

It was about time to give our new office a Christmas look. And as we have quite a few white walls here, we decided to embellish them our own way: With Washi Tapes. Now we have a wonderful Masking Tape Christmas tree in our office and everybody participated in making it. It was very easy to do and lots of fun. All of us made at least one Christmas tree ornament and could design it any way he or she wanted.

So how to do it?

Make the outline of a tree with Masking Tape. You can try to make the shape of a real fir tree, or you go for the easy triangle version as we did. The outer line of our tree also consists of two tape layers, we chose one light green and one darker green tape. For the Christmas tree balls we just cut out circles of paper and decorated them with all kinds of Masking Tape. Then we stuck them on the tree and voila: done.

After Christmas we can just remove it without leaving any traces on the wall. We also adjusted the tape several times when making the outline, as we were not that satisfied with the shape. Washi tape just rocks!

Happy Birthday Ho

What an usual position for him. Today it’s the birthday of our photographer Ho and of course we took a picture of him and the fruity mango cake that we got him. Usually Ho stands behind the camera to take pictures of all the new products for our shop. However, he enjoyed the short change of perspective, because it meant he got to cut and eat the yummy mango cake with chocolate crisps at the office. It was really full of fruit and probably the healthiest birthday cake we have had at modes4u celebrations so far.

A chocolate bomb for Alan’s Birthday

If you see a super fancy cake in the modes4u office, it’s usually birthday time. This week we celebrated Alan’s birthday with looots of chocolate. The cake we got him was so incredibly rich that everybody was just happily smiling after finishing it. It was already Alan’s 4th birthday cake!!! Isn’t that amazing? What a lucky guy to get 4 cakes. However, our cake was definitely one of his favourites.

Rilakkuma was celebrating with us of course. Our huge office mascot can’t be missing on a festive occasion like this and had to be in our team picture as well. He is just so huge and draws so much attention to him that you barely notice the chocolate cake next to him.

Signing the new contract

Today we signed the new contract for our bigger office I was writing about a couple of days ago. We are really excited about this move because we ran out of space in our current office and we plan to stock a lot more products. Signing the contract was quite some torture for me because the landlord is an elderly Chinese man who doesn’t speak a single word English. Additional, he was super slow with reading all the docouments, signing etc. and he had lots of very strange requests. For example, he took a photo of the keys and started to explain to Alan every single key (of course he mixed them up and struggled to identify them). I was so dumbfounded, I had to take a photo. My butt was hurting because I was sitting on a cheap chair for a whole hour already. I was so glad when this whole procedure was over and we finally had the keys. Next week we will move our office. I will definitely take some photos for you guys again.

Decorating our office with deco tapes

Today, we had some fun decorating our office furniture with some of our cute and fun deco tapes. We used the tapes to decorate our shelves, tables and computer monitors. It was really fun! There are so many creative ways to use those deco tapes and we think our furniture looks so much better now ;-)

New staff starting today

Today our newest staff member is starting her work in our office. Her name is Lok and she will be taking care of packing all your goodies in cute packages and send them to the post office. We will have a nice Dim Sum lunch all together because that is custom here to welcome a new staff member. Isn’t that a nice gesture to let someone feel welcome? Welcome to the team Lok!

Expanding our warehouse space

We ordered some more shelves for our office so we can expand our warehouse space and stock more products. We totally ran out of space and had to get more shelves. I took some pictures to show how hard we worked today ;-)
