Tokyo Trip: Creativity on Display

When wrapping up their trip to Tokyo, modeS4u’s Managing Director and IT Manager, Sandra and Alan, came across the works of some very talented designers who work with DIY products.  The first artist, Kuroda Tsubasa, uses pom poms to create realistic looking cats and dogs! The second artist is Nakayama Midori, who uses felt to also create very realistic furry friends. Check out some fun images of their work here!

Tokyo Trip: Kawaii Monster Cafe

Continuing with their trip to Tokyo, Sandra and Alan (modeS4u’s Managing Director and IT Manager respectively) also took a look at the incredibly colorful Kawaii Monster Cafe, which features some of the most creative and wackiest interior design we’ve ever seen! Many of the cafe’s displays looked like giant dessert figurines, whilst the walls were adorned with colorful macarons. There were amazing flower structures along the booths too! Check out some amazing pictures right here.

modeS4u visits the Quilt Festival in Tokyo

Earlier this year, Sandra Boch (Managing Director of modeS4U) and Alan Mak (IT Manager) visited the Quilt Market in Tokyo and there were just so many stunning Japanese fabrics stitched into some truly incredible projects, such as quilts, toys, displays and much more. From designs featuring gorgeous floral fabrics, to those using vibrant patterned fabric, there were many inspirational projects as far as the eye could see. Which of these projects do you like the most?

Our visit to Japan Hobby Show 2015: Part 2

When we went to the Japan Hobby Show in Tokyo earlier this year we saw lots of new stationery and decoration we really loved. We will certainly think about getting some of the articles that we don’t carry in our shop yet. Again and again we were stunned by the attention to detail with which the creators care about even the tiniest features of their little pieces of art. Especially the clay decoration we discovered looked so sensationally realistic, it was hard to believe that those were fake sweets. With so many spectacular designs to look at, it’s no wonder it made our mouth water for more of these incredible DIYs.

Japan Hobby Show Part 7: crochet work

You have almost seen everything that we discovered on the Japan Hobby Show. But not quite everything. We definitely wanted to show you all the cute crochet work that we spotted on the trade show in Tokyo. Crocheting sometimes still has a certain “granny attitude”, but when you see all the kawaii stuff you can make with this technique, it will change your mind forever. Have a look:

Japan Hobby Show Part 2: felt crafts

One of the things we really loved on the Japan Hobby Show in Tokyo were the adorable felt items. We saw lots of lovely little fugures made completely from felt, such as litte animals, matryoshkas, Halloween items or sweets. We don’t carry any of these DIY sets in our shop yet, but it certainly made us think about getting some.

Welcome to Japan Hobby Show Part 1

Part of our team went to Tokyo a couple of weeks ago to visit the Japan Hobby Show. It was a really great exhibition with lots to see and try. As the trade show was open to the public the whole time, there were lots of opportunities to actually use different hobby products like fabrics, clay, colours, different techniques etc. We took hundreds of pictures which we want to show to you guys. So today we’re kicking off our little series with some general impressions from the show.
