Well, here we go with a new free sewing pattern that will certainly delight any quilt lover, thanks to its beautiful design and gorgeous fabrics used. Check out the images below for a close look at some scenes from ancient Japan as the central panel. We have also added pictures of some other fabrics from Robert Kaufman’s Imperial Collection, and of the finished project, of course! You will notice the sewing pattern includes two equally elegant versions of the quilt in different colors. Don’t you think it would be great to have them both?
This free sewing project is especially recommended for those with some sewing experience. There are many frames around the panel fabric; two of them are somewhat complex, and downright smart! Both are made up of squares built with two triangles, but one of them follows a wonderful pattern of four pointed stars, while the other shows a clever design along diagonal bands. Most of the designs used feature metallic gold embellishments, and many revolve around iconic Japanese flowers, like cherry blossoms or sakura, chrysanthemums and peach blossoms.
If you are a fan of Asian artistic traditions and love quilting, this is a great chance for you to work with some truly amazing textile designs inspired by Japan. You just have to decide which of the quilt versions to make…which is your favorite, the blue or the red one? Remember we love to hear from you, do not forget to send us pictures of your finished project, should you decide to give this lovely free sewing pattern a go!
