Here’s a FREE sewing pattern for a gathered skirt!!

Who else is excited about the warmer weather FINALLY on its way? We sure are! So what better way to celebrate the Spring sun peeking out from behind the clouds than with a super fun sewing project to create the perfect Spring/Summer skirt? That’s right! We have a FREE SEWING PATTERN of a gorgeous gathered skirt, just for you!! It’s a beautiful design featuring a stunning Kokka fabric we simply love, with this particular print featuring a townscape and super kawaii little animals peering out. Isn’t it awesome??

This lovely, flowing skirt even features two pockets, which are super handy to have on a skirt. The design of this skirt is also extremely flattering on the body, and the way it’s shaped is meant to maximize comfort. You’ll feel really comfy wearing this skirt, whilst looking super stylish at the same time. It’s a win-win! The unique fabric pattern for this skirt will also ensure you stand out. Of course, you can also make this skirt with many other fabrics too, for example with other fabrics featuring city patterns, animal patterns, flower motifs etc. In this blog post, we’ve included other city fabric patterns for you to check out if you want to try making this skirt with a different fabric.

As we mentioned above, this skirt was made using fabric from renowned Japanese fabric producer, Kokka. They have a huge range of fabrics available and their designs are all very high-quality. They offer something for everyone so if you know someone who loves wearing skirts and you want to try making this one, you’re sure to find an amazing Kokka fabric that will work for them. We know many of you are fans of Japanese fabrics which is why we couldn’t wait to share this particular sewing pattern with you.

This skirt is not only perfect to make for yourself, but it’s also great to make if you’re looking to give someone a truly unique gift. What do you think someone who loves skirt will say when you show them this skirt you made just for them? We bet they’ll love it! You can also embellish this skirt with kawaii notions, such as colorful buttons, to add a bit of pop to its design. Really, you can unleash your creativity with this project and make something really unique and one-of-a-kind! Just off the top of our heads, we can suggest putting little decorations along the bottom of the skirt, such as beads, or even bias tape for a clean look. We’re having fun just thinking up what we can do with the design, just imagine how fun and rewarding it would be to actually go ahead and make it!

So will you give this project a go? We really hope you decide to give it a try! If you do take on this project, please make sure you send us photos of your finished skirt as we’d love to see what you create, and to share those photos too! Good luck to you!!
