This one goes out to all the nature lovers who enjoy sewing, and working with beautiful fabrics! Here you will find a free sewing pattern that uses a Robert Kaufman panel fabric from the North American Wildlife fabric series to make a simple and elegant quilt measuring 140cm x 167cm. This particular fabric features four delightful pictures of the deer family in the woods, including a close up of a full-antlered stag looking back, a great composition with three alert does on a flowery riverbank, and two smaller images where some sweet fawns lie on the ground, half-hidden by the luxurious vegetation cover of the woods.
Deer have always been, and still are, animals of great importance for humans, and are an all time favorite creature wherever they live. We find them beautiful: we like their looks, the grace and strength of their movements, the intricate design of their antlers etc. But not only that: deer played a central role in ancient mythology and culture, from the earliest human groups to the first great civilizations, and are still a symbol of seasonal change, renewal and rebirth. We know many of you are fans of deer too, and are especially fond of deer fabrics!
This is an easy sewing project designed by Ariga Mahmoudlou and recommended for beginners, where the gorgeous images in the original panel are rearranged and framed so that the finished quilt looks like a sheet in a photo album. You will therefore need only a few strips of fabric in different sizes, to complement the panel. The color of the backing is up to you, though we have included some suggestions of solid fabrics and fabric bundles in the hopes that they will be helpful to you!
So do not hesitate, take up your quilting implements, and give this a go! Make sure to send us some pictures when your brand new quilt is ready, so that we can enjoy and share them here too 😉
