By this time of year, scarcely one day goes by without hearing around you (or even inside your head, sometimes!) some clear jingling of bells, that metallic but definitely sweet sound proverbially associated with Christmas. Those are too the bright clear bells ringing when Santa’s sleigh crosses our winter skies on his magical flying sleigh pulled by the most famous team of reindeer in Western folklore! And why are we talking about Xmas bells? Well, here we go:
We bring you today some pictures of a 2019 Christmas installation in Hong Kong, a truly creative metallic take on Santa Claus by Japanese motion graphics designer and illustrator Ryogo Toyoda, that can be freely visited and admired at the iSquare mall. It immediately made us think of small nuts and bolts clinking, almost like Xmas bells 😉
Ryogo Toyoda’s work is fiercely contemporary, even in his choice of colors, and echoes popular toy design icons like Lego or Nintendo, while combining 2D and 3D illustration. The installation celebrates iSquare’s 10th anniversary, and is aptly named Robotic Christmas, as it mainly revolves around some funny Santa Claus robots dressed in red and blue. Other traditional winter holiday elements are featured among the silvery and golden gear-like assembly: you can see ice crystals, Xmas trees, stars, presents and even a big candy cane! How do you like it?
We also have some very creative renditions among the many Christmas products in our kawaii shop, so make sure to take a look!
