Silk is a super popular fabric to work with for its smooth feel, softness, and regal look. Being lightweight, it’s a highly sought-after fabric too for all kinds of projects from bags to shirts to elegant floor length dresses and more. We’re going to tell you about some places across Hong Kong where you can get yourself some fabulous silk material for your sewing needs!
First up, there’s Leung Kee Silk Co., in Sham Shui Po. They have a lot of silk imported from China and offer a nice range for both retail and wholesale. You can find it at 40A Apliu Street, Sham Shui Po, Kowloon.
Also in Sham Shui Po is Wa Fat Piece Goods Co., which sells a variety of material types including silk. If you need to collect fabric for different projects, this is a good place to check out. It’s located at 1J Shek Kip Mei St, Sham Shui Po.
In the area you’ll come across a lot of fabric stalls that will have silk fabrics available so make sure to take a little time wandering around to see what’s available.
Next we have Yue Hwa Chinese Products Emporium, which sells highly detailed and stunning silk and brocade fabric. You can find their main store at 301-309 Nathan Road, Kowloon. They also have branches in Tsim Sha Tsui, Sau Mao Ping, Tak Tin and Tsz Wan Shan.
Finally, if you’re on Hong Kong Island, you can check out Western Market at 323 Des Voeux Road, Sheung Wan. Inside, you’ll see a number of little shops that sell high quality silk fabrics in a wide variety of colors and with all kinds of patterns.
We hope you find these suggestions helpful! If you happen to come across any other shops selling silk, please do let us know in the comments section!
