There is a fruitful past-present tension in fashion as well as in all arts & crafts that is often incredibly inspiring for any sewing project. The love of vintage fabric clothing allows for wonderful remakes, especially when retro sewing patterns meet contemporary fabric designs. This is made strikingly evident in many of the clothing items created by Franzi V. H., one of our very talented customers who has recently been sharing with us some great pictures of her creations. We are dedicating today’s post to her wild revisiting of classic dresses, skirts and vests inspired by the 50s, to which we give a heartfelt thumbs up!
Take a look below to see her updated versions of sleeveless dresses with lots of fullness, those oh-so-great vests (we do love vests!), her ample skirts seemingly made for dancing, even her sets of vest and matching skirt! She favors fabric designs with vintage motifs like classic cars and comic strips, and of course Alexander Henry fabrics‘ superbly cool skull fabrics, choices that do perfectly suit her style.
We believe that these uptakes on retro fashion designs are bound to be a total success if you stick to wearable classic clothing patterns that fit your fashion preferences, and choose the right fabric designs like Franzi did 🙂 How do you like them? We hope they help you get inspired to soon grab some of your favorite vintage patterns, and bring them to life in awesome projects! If you decide to do so, please remember to share your photos with us at info@modes4u.com , as we love to see what you make with our fabrics!
