We are ready for spring and Easter, therefore we put our Easter category online. You can find all the products from our shop in there which have a connection to spring and Easter: items with rabbits, chicks, eggs, ladybugs, flowers and more. We can’t wait for spring to arrive!

Over the last months we got so many new index stickers and sticky notes that we decided to open a new shop catgory for them. Now you can find all these cute bookmark stickers in the category “Sticky notes”, which is a subcategory of our sticker section.
Take a look at them if you need some kawaii office helpers for school, university, work or home. They are really lots of fun to work with and we carry more than 200 different ones.
We have been selling fabric bundles for a while, but you might have had a hard time finding them, as they were scattered in all our fabric categories. As we already carry quite a selection we now decided to open a new fabric bundles category where you can find all different kinds of bundles we carry in one spot: Fat Quarters, Roll ups, charm packs and ten squares.
Fabric bundles are great for sewing little accessories and applications, but they also make a great gift. In the next days and weeks we will also add quite a few new bundles by Robert Kaufman.
We like to start early. Even though it’s just August we already put our Halloween and Christmas categories online. We will add more products to those categories in the next couple of weeks. Still both of them are already filled with quite a lot of products worth checking out, as we received a few seasonal items in our last deliveries that you might not have seen yet.
Our seasonal categories will stay online until after the holidays, you can find them in the left menu bar of our online shop.

Our partnership with the Japanese stationary and gift manufacturing company San-X really flourished in the past years. Last year we were super proud that we carried almost 1,000 San-X products in our shop, this year the amount has more than doubled. By now we carry more than 2,100 San-X products on modes4u.com. It’s not such a big surprise when you keep in mind that Rilakkuma is the most popular character in our shop, and also San-X’ most successful character.
It’s also a big honor that we are allowed to sell limited Rilakkuma editions. To celebrate Rilakkuma’s 10th anniversary San-X has been releasing quite a few super limited plush toy editions, which are almost exclusively available in Japan. Only a handful of retailers in the whole world are allowed to sell them outside of Japan and we are one of them. This is why you can buy the Rilakkuma zodiac sign edition or the Rilakkuma Chinese New Year edition at our shop.
We will keep ordering many new products from all the different San-X characters and soon we will hopefully have 3,000 San-X products in our shop.
We added a new feature to our shop that lots of you will like. From now on you find a box with pictures from the most popular characters on modes4u in the left sidebar on every page. When you click onto the icon you can see all the products with that character that we currently carry in our shop. Isn’t that super cool? See all our stuff with Rilakkuma, Little Red Riding Hood, Hello Kitty, Piggy Girl or My Melody and many more kawaii characters.

Looks adorable – our new character box on modes4u.com

You might have noticed some of the funky new designs in our fabric section already. We now carry Alexander Henry fabrics in our shop and love the new designs. Until now we mainly added Christmas fabrics, but many more will follow in the next weeks. One of our favourites already is the kawaii Kokeshi doll fabric that we ordered in different colours.
The textile design house Alexander Henry is situated in California, USA, and has been in the fabric business for more than 30 years. They make cutting-edge cotton prints and each pattern is still painted by hand. Their fabrics are made in Japan, so they really stand for high quality. They say themselves that their designs are inspired by art history, runway fashion and the culture at large, which we think really shows in their prints, e.g. their big pin-up series that’s clearly inspired by the 50s. How do you like them?
modes4u.com is full of witches, ghosts, pumpkins, bats and black cats. A couple of days ago we launched our Halloween design to put you in the right mood for the upcoming spooky holiday on October 31st. We have to admit that the little figures are rather cute than scary, but we can’t help it, we’re just a kawaii shop. The three Halloween designs rotate randomly in our shop, so you might see a different header each time you refresh or change a page. Of course the header of this blog can’t stay behind, so we gave it a Halloween design as well.
Don’t forget to check out our Halloween category to have a look at all of our Halloween items. We’ll update the page regularly and add new items.

Go green with modes4u. We have been offering some organic fabrics for a while already, but as our customers really like those eco-friendly fabrics and have been asking for more, we decided to open a new category in our online shop just for organic fabrics. Also we will enlarge our product range to offer you guys more colourful fabrics that meet environmental and social criteria. While we already carry quite some organic fabrics by Robert Kaufman, we will also receive super pretty fabrics by Birch and monaluna from the USA in the next couple of weeks.
All the fabrics in this category are made from 100% organic cotton. Robert Kaufman and Birch are also certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), which is the leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres worldwide. You can be sure that companies with this label produce fabrics that meet the high environmental and social criteria, for example that dyes and other inputs meet certain environmental and toxicological aspects.

Last week our online shop modes4u turned four and we started a big giveaway to celebrate our birthday. When we were preparing our birthday activities, we also wrote a little article about our shop and looked back on how everything started and developed in the last years. We thought it might be nice to share that with you, if you are interested in some funny facts and background information. And don’t forget to join our giveaway by leaving a comment on our blog post 4 years modes4u: BIG Happy Birthday Giveaway. The giveaway is still open till April 3rd.
From 1 to 100 – the kawaii online shop modes4u celebrates its 4th birthday
1640 days ago the online shop modes4u.com opened its virtual doors. Since then the team around native Austrian and company founder Sandra Boch has been sending cute and playful stationery, fabrics and accessories to more than 25,000 customers worldwide. What started with one order per week is now at around 100 per day, and modes4u celebrates its 4th birthday.
Enthusiasm, ambition and maybe a dozen products, that’s what it began with. “We received the first order in our shop around 3 weeks after we went online. It came from Germany and I was so happy that we finally got one“, 30 year old company founder Sandra Boch remembers. Even 4 years after her business opening the young entrepreneur is still excited about every order. But by now she gets a lot more. Today the modes4u-team processes an average of 100 orders per day, in the busy pre-Christmas weeks they even receive several hundred every day. “That’s when really everybody has to help, so that we can handle that amount”, Sandra says.
The Native Austrian, who emigrated to Hong Kong many years ago, established the online shop for cute stationery, fabrics, accessories and DIY-items in 2007 with her Chinese husband Alan Mak. On March 20th 2008 they launched the website www.modes4u.com. “In the first months we maybe had one order per week; we stored the products in our flat and took pictures of them in our bedroom”, IT manager Alan remembers. Today the couple employs 6 German and Chinese staff members, developed its own storage and packing system and has a professional photo studio. The company just moved into a new office last year, but will change location again in 2012: They are just running out of space.
Almost 3,500 products start their journey from the office in Hong Kong to customers all over the world. Already 86 different countries received packages from modes4u. “But most of our orders are shipped to Germany, France and the UK. Many customers are from the USA too. A lot of our products, which we mainly import from Japan, are just really hard to get in those countries”, Sandra explains the success of her own company.
