It’s time again for a short edition of “what customers make with our fabrics”. In the last weeks our French customer Little Clary showed us her cool UK flag shirt, she sewed using one of our Riley Blake fabrics. Our Spanish customer Momita reminded us of her tutorial for sewing garments with a funny ostriches using Robert Kaufman fabric and from Germany we received pictures of bright owl pillows for a children’s hospital. Another French customer Le Blog de Claire showed us her sewed collection of mini dresses for cute animal dolls, using Elizabeth’s studio fabric and fabrics from Japan.

Say hello to Gudetama, one of Sanrio‘s new characters. This year the lazy little egg came out of his shell to surprise customers in Hong Kong’s busy shopping area Mong Kok. Together with a pop-up store, fans can explore truly ‘egg-cellent’ exhibits, including a kawaii Gudetama themed bakery, a commuter train and Japanese restaurants. As the pictures from the Hong Kong website unwire show, there are also some special limited edition products on sale until September. However, fans of Gudetama and Hello Kitty don’t need to go egg-hunting, but can find their favorite Sanrio characters at modes4u.

This Gudetama style Sushi restaurant is part of a big ‘Eggs-hibition’ in Hong Kong.

Fans can see many new forms of the lazy little egg, like this Shushi roll.

In the bakery everything looks funny, cute and delicious.

Nothing can stir him up. Gudetama has a reputation for being lazy.

All aboard the Gudetama train. No ticket required.

Conductor Gudetama seems to take a break… Again.

We are sure a real Gudetama Ramen restaurant would be a success in Hong Kong.

It looks like visitors can join Gudetama for lunch.

The pop-up store is very popular among shoppers and tourists.

Little Twin Stars and My Melody are celebrating their 40th Birthday this year. The cute Sanrio characters surprised customers in Hong Kong‘s shopping district Causeway Bay with a pop op store and an amazing exhibition, including a dream house, a flower truck, birthday cakes and much more. We found lovely pictures on the Hong Kong website jetsoclub, showing that the cute bunny and Kiki and Lala have become just as popular as their big sister Hello Kitty. The store in the colorful little house offers some special limited edition products, like kawaii pink anniversary backpacks. Fans can visit the exhibition until the end of August, but we just can’t wait to wish a Happy Birthday.

Our overall impression of the Quilt Market fabric exhibition in Minneapolis this year was absolutely great and we certainly like to visit again. We reserved our final post for some American brands, we were able to talk to and already carry in our shop. We loved the creative concepts of Michael Miller and the beautiful patterns of the new collections by Henry Glass. Many new fabrics of these and less known suppliers, like Blank Quilting can already be found on modes4u and more will be available soon. We are grateful for all the inspiration and are sure we can bring you many fantastic fabrics in the future.

A wonderful quilt design and tablecloth by Michale Miller.

Great fun. The concept collection ‘Color Me’ allows you to choose your favorite colors for your fabrics.

This dress looks surprisingly well designed, albeit it was a spontaneous creation.

Seamless blending. Achieved with the perfect choice of the fabric’s hue matching the wall paper.

Busy at the Blank Quilting both with some beautiful flower patterns in the background.

Great selection. Henry Glass impresses with an outstanding variety of design patterns.

The Henry Glass daughter Fabric Editions. Cute, young, but not childish.
Although the Quilt Market in Minneapolis is first of all a fabric exhibition for suppliers from the United States, there are also very beautiful Asia fabrics on display. We were able to find amazing new collections from popular brands like Echino and Kokka that will be a great choice for anyone with a soft spot for Japanese designs. We are happy to say that many of the fabrics we chose are already available on modes4u and we are sure that you will love using them to sew wonderful bags, garments and other creative things.

Hokusai’s ‘Great wave’ is a timeless masterpiece and unmistakably Japanese.

Many of the designs are colorful and have traditional patterns.

Easily carried away. Echino fabrics are perfect for sewing bags and pouches.

A unique style and outstanding quality make Echino one of our favorite suppliers.

Many Asia fabrics depict flowers and animals, but it’s really the art style that makes them so special.

During our visit to the Quilt Market in the United States this year we were especially keen to look for new organic fabrics. Responding to our customers wish for certified organic cotton fabrics, we were able to find a range of very beautiful designs for our shop. We were very happy to have a chance to talk first hand to great suppliers like Monaluna, Birch and Cloud9 and choose from their amazing new collections.Due to the very good experience with the organic fabrics already available in our shop, we are sure to have the best partners to offer you wonderful fabrics for future children’s clothing and home sewing projects.

This year we had a wonderful experience travelling to the United States to visit the Quilt Market in Minneapolis. The international fabric exhibition was a great chance to be inspired by an abundance of amazing designs. We had the opportunity to talk to all of our favorite suppliers like Robert Kaufman, Riley Blake, Alexander Henry and many more and selected a lot of beautiful patterns to complement the great collections we already carry in our shop. While we really love all of our brands, we also found some gorgeous new fabrics of less known exhibitors like Andover that have just become available on modes4u.

Alexander Henry always have many new fabric patterns and design ideas.

Lovely fruit tablecloth at the Alexander Henry booth.

We all love handbags. Especially those made from our favorite fabrics.

At the Quilt Market 2015 we had the chance to speak to many experts.

We can’t wait for Halloween with these super cute owl quilt designs.

Compared to other international trade fares, the Quilt Market in Minneapolis has a calm and professional feel.

Andover’s ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ now available in our shop.

A very cute caterpillar and butterfly apron.
Over the last few weeks we added many great fabrics from American manufacturer Andover to our shop. We’d like to introduce some of the wonderful designs this brand has to offer, such as the amazing ornament fabrics of ‘Downton Abbey -The Egyptian Collection‘ and the lovely Christmas fabrics ‘Festive’. More, we now carry the special batik fabrics ‘Handcrafted’, which are all individually stamped in Indonesia and allow for reversible sewing designs due to their highly saturated colors. Another collection we have especially grown fond of are the cute children fabrics of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar Christmas’ designed by Eric Carle. For those looking for rather alternative fabrics we have the super cool steampunk inspired collection ‘Chillingsworth’s Bicycle Race‘ featuring airships, penny farthings and skeletons with top hats. With a brand like Andover in our shop we are sure to be one step closer to have the perfect fabrics for your sewing projects.
When we went to the Japan Hobby Show in Tokyo earlier this year we saw lots of new stationery and decoration we really loved. We will certainly think about getting some of the articles that we don’t carry in our shop yet. Again and again we were stunned by the attention to detail with which the creators care about even the tiniest features of their little pieces of art. Especially the clay decoration we discovered looked so sensationally realistic, it was hard to believe that those were fake sweets. With so many spectacular designs to look at, it’s no wonder it made our mouth water for more of these incredible DIYs.

Many of the exhibits were incredibly detailed.

Looking really yummy. Cute clay deserts and pastries.

We wonder how many people asked if they can get a slice of this cake.
