Polar bears are some of our most favorite animals and an international symbol in the fight to reduce global warming. Therefore, we like to remind ourselves that the beautiful white bear’s future is in our hands. Since these wonderful creatures live far away in their arctic homes, we celebrate this day with Rilakkuma and his friends and take note with our cute new polar bear stationary.

Iwako erasers are so much fun. They come in the most amazing shapes and with so many details that sometimes it’s hard to believe that they are ‘just’ erasers. We love the new Iwako erasers we now carry, there are many new animals like gorillas, butterflies and bees. The adorable school series with stapler, scissors, tape dispenser, school bag, piano, table tennis packet etc. is a really great addition for children’s school bags. And the classic game collection is really suitable for playing!

What a funny idea. A customer told us that she uses our Iwako sea turtle erasers to play the game Turtle Wushu. We have never heard of it before but it sounds really creative and entertaining. It’s an active team game where you move a lot. There are two teams and every player carries an eraser turtle on the back of his or her hand. Then it’s about knocking the turtles off your opponent’s hands by following certain rules.
That’s really the most unusual way our erasers have been used so far. Check out the video below if you want to play it too.
Have you ever wondered how those incredibly detailed Japanese Iwako erasers are made? We have and therefore were very pleased to find out that Iwako released a little factory tour, in which the company explains how they make those little rubber items which made them so successful. So on their website you can have a very detailed look at all the steps of manufacturing. We will break it down in a more general way for you:
1. If a new eraser is to be produced, a model maker makes a model by hand. After that molds are made from metal, so that the huge molding machines can produce the different parts of the new erasers. For every new eraser part the molds in the machines have to be changed.
2. The eraser material, which is PVC-free and environmental friendly is coloured with pigment powders and injected into the machines, where it is melded and pressed into the molds.
3. After all the different parts for each eraser are ready, they are assembled and packed by hand. Of course each eraser is checked before being packed to ensure that the quality is good.

A look behind the scenes: Here you can see what big machines are used to make the cute erasers

It’s heaven for crafting fans! In part 5 of our big series about the kawaii shops of Sunshine City in Tokyo it’s all about being creative yourself. There is so much stationery and crafting material that it could take you days to look at everything if you don’t know exactly what you are looking for.

A typical sight in Sunshine City: so much stationery on so little space

So many adorable post-its

The sticker shelves are amazing

They seem to never end

A very impressive stamp selection

Tons of sticker bags in Sunshine City

Lots of molds and accessories for crafting with clay

We do not really know if these things are crafting magazines or DIY sets

This looks so kawaii. We love the combination of Re-Ments and Iwako erasers

In all the shops you see funny crafted projects
Some of our customers have been asking us about Easter products, so today we released our Easter page on modes4u.com. Until the middle of April you can find all our products, which are connected to Easter and spring in this category. That means lots of bunny and chick items, but also lots of pretty flower and spring designs which make you look forward to that season. A lot of deco tapes, fabrics and stamps will provide good material for your art&craft projects that you are planning for that holiday. We also added some products, that we think might be a unique gift idea such as DIY clay sets for example.
Of course we will expand the category if we have more products that fit into it. Have fun rummaging in our Easter page.
