One of our lovely laminate fabrics has just been featured in the new special edition of German sewing magazine Patchwork Spezial. The issue called Näh was mit Wachstuch (Sew something with laminate fabrics) now available in Germany, arrived just in time for the start of the wet autumn season and includes practical step by step instructions for sewing a range of great bags, pouches and outdoor pillows. ModeS4u also contributed some fabrics for the making of the issue and fortunately enough one of our stylish Echino fabrics was actually made into a gorgeous gym bag. Many thanks to team for featuring us.

Although the Quilt Market in Minneapolis is first of all a fabric exhibition for suppliers from the United States, there are also very beautiful Asia fabrics on display. We were able to find amazing new collections from popular brands like Echino and Kokka that will be a great choice for anyone with a soft spot for Japanese designs. We are happy to say that many of the fabrics we chose are already available on modes4u and we are sure that you will love using them to sew wonderful bags, garments and other creative things.

Hokusai’s ‘Great wave’ is a timeless masterpiece and unmistakably Japanese.

Many of the designs are colorful and have traditional patterns.

Easily carried away. Echino fabrics are perfect for sewing bags and pouches.

A unique style and outstanding quality make Echino one of our favorite suppliers.

Many Asia fabrics depict flowers and animals, but it’s really the art style that makes them so special.

Adorable apple bags and a bear made from cute fruit fabric.

Some of the colorful designs that can be found in our shop.

We look forwards to see many of the sewing projects made from the cute fabics we carry in our shop now.
We always love getting new echino fabric deliveries, it’s so exciting to open the boxes and see all the beautiful new prints. We couldn’t be much happier with the latest 10th anniversary collection, all the fabrics look really stunning. All of them are a cotton/linen blend and have vibrant colors. The samber line shows one of the most popular echino designs – the beautiful stag with glasses – combined with irregular polka dots. arc features birds with a nice arc pattern and parakeet has a great dotted Chevron print paired with birds. zon is a great line with safari animals and lots of geo prints that look a bit like big stripes of Masking Tape. The last new line of the collection is landscape with the abstract design of mountains and birds.
Each design is available in different colors.
Time for a mini edition of “what customers make with our fabrics”. In the last weeks our Dutch customer fabriekt.nl showed us her beautiful bags she sewed using many of our Kokka and echino fabrics. Our French customer Bienvenue Chez Flaneuze is using our Michael Miller Kiss me fabric and the colorful Timeless Treasures cat fabric as Furoshiki. Furoshiki are traditional Japanese wrapping cloths to transport things.
We have many beautiful new Kokka fabrics from Japan. Most of them are oxford fabrics, but there are also some super delicate gauze fabrics and our first ever Kokka flannel fabric. We really like the England designs that Kokka has been releasing lately. Check out the fabrics with London buses, Queen’s guards or teapots. We also received many designs that have gold metallic decorations, for example with apples or cherry blossoms.
And there is also news from echino: We now carry the pretty cotton sateen collection as cotton sateen laminates.
In the last months we teamed up with many great blogs again and they made amazing apparel with our fabrics.
Tilly and the Buttons sewed a beautiful skirt with our black echino stag fabric. This fabric is really popular in our shop and justifiably so when you see how great the finished clothes look.
The blog Para Mi Peque Con Amor used our organic birch knit fabrics to make some great children’s shirts. Due to their stretch and soft feel Jersey fabrics are really suitable for children’s clothes.
Sewing Mama Raeanna made an amazing romper with our Onigiri rice ball fabric. It is beyond words, we love that print and think it looks awesome on children’s clothes.
echino is now also available as cotton sateen. We are super excited about these news and can tell you: the fabrics feel amazing! Most echino fabrics have a share of linen and therefore are a bit rougher. The new echino sateens are super lightweight fabrics that are 100% cotton and feel very smooth and soft. We can totally see them being used for light blouses, skirts and dresses.
We now carry two beautiful new organic fabric collections by birch from the USA. In the collection Frolic you’ll find many adorable animal and flower prints. Everyday Party has forest animal designs with bears, elephants, ants, birds and more. Some designs are also available as knit fabrics. If you you need some basics, you might be interested in our new single-colored birch flannel fabrics.
From Japan we received the color-intense echino collections bee, birds, kalmia, pipi and hide. Some of these designs were already available as laminate fabrics in our shop, but now we also have the pure Cavas version.
