Everyday is a great day to celebrate an Unbirthday, as we learned from the most fanciful character of the Mad Hatter, in the classical and much loved fairy tale of Alice in Wonderland. An Unbirthday is any day of the year that isn’t your birthday! We just thought it would be a great idea to celebrate the unbirthday of all fairy tales that ever were, and call it the Fairy Tale Unbirthday, how would you like that?

Everybody loves a good story, and many people enjoy those which involve fantasy and magic, especially children. Magic and fantasy are probably the basic ingredients of a fairy tale, that we could describe as a popular short story or folktales happening somewhere unreal, and involving archetypal events and characters. Think of a far away kingdom, a princess, a witch, a hero, a fascinating creature… Some fairy tales have become famous all over the world thanks to books and films!

New Little Red Riding Hood Christmas Figurines

Last year we already had a few adorable Little Red Riding Hood Christmas figurines from Decole’s Otogicco collection, but this year we stocked up even more. We just received lots of new designs with the cute little fairy tale figure. There are a couple of single ones whit Little Red Riding Hood ice skating, catching snowflakes or holding a cake. But there are also a couple of cute designs with Red Riding Hood and the wolf.

Cute Hello Kitty cards for McDonalds promotion in Hong Kong

Yahoo Deals Hong Kong just started a super kawaii Hello Kitty deal for an upcoming McDonald’s promotion. For 48 Hong Kong Dollars you can buy a set of four adorable Hello Kitty collector’s cards including a kawaii album. Till the beginning of October you can show your card when buying a drink out of certain product group and then get a free McDonald’s product on top. You can only get those special Hello Kitty cards in this Yahoo deal, McDonald’s will use different cards for the promotion throughout Hong Kong.

And the Hello Kitty cards are super adorable, who would not want to have them? Hello Kitty is dressed up as different fairy tale characters: Little Red Riding Hood, Frog Prince, The Ugly Duckling and the Wizard of Oz. There are two interchanging images on each card, so you also have a cool visual effect. Do you have a favourite card already? They are all really kawaii, but the wolf of the Little Red Riding Hood card just stole our heart away.

Visit from Push Pin Japan

We met Push Pin at the Gift Show in Tokyo this year. Their English was not so good so we agreed with them that they will contact us again with an English speaking contact person. Today Brian, who is from Hong Kong and is taking care of their production in China, visited us to talk more detailed about their products and their different collections. He also brought some really cute catalogues. We actually do sell Push Pin’s fabric made by Kokka in Japan in our shop already, but they make a lot of other cute products as well, like memo pads, sticker, keychains, wallets, bags and many many more. They have a matryoshka line, fairy tale line, kitty line and others. Their items are really adorable and we want to sell more of their products in our shop. They would fit perfectly with our other items.

The funny thing is that they have a collection called “November Books” which is about the German fairy tales and they use some German words on their designs. Sometimes those sentences are wrong or just sound very funny. I guess its the same everywhere when people use other languages because they are “fashionable”. My English must also sound funny sometimes as my mother tongue is German, not English. 😉
