We just found an incredibly charming quilt design by Wendy Sheppard, featuring a great panel fabric of the Feline Friends collection by Michael Miller, and of course had to share its free sewing pattern here! Some of the fabrics in the series, featuring a gang of really cute and funny cartoon-like cats and kittens, have recently arrived in our Hong Kong store, and have been a real source of enjoyment for us all! 🙂 This project will suit any cat lover with some sewing experience and skills, being recommended for confident beginners.
The quilt uses a panel fabric made up of smaller rectangular panels with different cat-related designs, and you will need to cut each of these to use them separately. Check the images below for an overview of the quilt, some close-ups and our picture of the full panel fabric required. You will see the basic design alternates those smaller panels with rectangular pieces of other cat fabrics in the series over a white background, all joined together by blue and white horizontal and vertical sashing blocks. Undoubtedly, the clever cat corner blocks are our favorite design feature!! They make all the difference when framing each small panel. 🙂
The whole picture is then surrounded by matching frames, plus the outer binding, again in white and some other colorful fabrics with flowers and cats. We’ve included adorable cat fabrics you can try out here, plus some lovely solid color fabrics too.
This may paw-ssibly be the funniest cat quilt of the season! What do you think of it? Do not wait any longer, let yourself be carried away by cute cat-fueled inspiration! Remember to send us images of the finished project, as we always love to see what you do, and would love to share them! 🙂
