We have more gorgeous photos from Cosmo’s showroom that we simply had to share with you! The bright colors and patterns will leave you awestruck.
As the weather begins to improve, the amount of available light increases because there are more hours of sunshine and the sky gets clearer; also, because natural lighting gets more intense during the central hours of the day. But this is not the weather report for today! It is just one of the main reasons why we enjoy colors so much in Spring, like what you see in these photos: they look brighter and stand out more under the right light. In addition, the palette of nature begins to fill with different hues after wintertime and the end of Autumn, which both tend to show a much lesser chromatic variety.
In cities, the change between seasons is sometimes less marked, but nonetheless easily noticeable: in parks and gardens, in the decoration of streets and shop windows, in the patterns of our clothes and accessories etc. It would seem that, surrounded by this explosion in light and color, we are moved to join in the display, thus keeping in line with the environment and the season. There is no better time than Spring for floral prints, multicolored fabrics or patterns with great contrasts of color. When summer comes, the light is sometimes so intensely dazzling that colors cannot be fully appreciated. However, in spring they shine in all their splendor, so take advantage of it now and enjoy to the fullest those garments, accessories or fabrics that stand out for the quantity and intensity of their colors. In our shop, you’ll see tons of gorgeous fabrics in a wide range of colors. Cosmo fabrics come in so many different colors, that you’ll want to spend all day looking at them!
Of course, color is a matter of taste and, more importantly, of good taste. Now is definitely the time to combine a cheerful, original or daring print with other more neutral clothing/accessories, so that they help show off your flashy item(s) while balancing the whole look. In case of doubt, start by wearing a single garment or somewhat large accessory that is very colorful (bag, shawl, blouse, skirt, pants, jacket), as part of an outfit that is more uniform and features softer hues. A chromatic nod to that special piece of clothing or accessory given through smaller items (shoes, socks, belts, jewelry, hats, whatever you can think of) usually work well, too.
We have in our store a huge amount of solid fabrics, multicolored fabrics, textile patterns of contrasting colors, fabrics with striking designs where color plays a fundamental role. Check out the images we selected to go with this post, and you will see some examples where color is king. We have also included some of the great pictures of Cosmo‘s showroom, featuring some fabrics, accessories and garments with a prominent use of color. We hope you like them and get inspired to sew something beautiful and full of color this spring! If you bring yourself to do it, remember to send us images of the finished project, as we love sharing them!
Oh, well, sometimes you just have to wonder at the fact that some things never fail to make you go crazy for them, don’t you? This is just what keeps happening to us again and again whenever we come across Japanese textile design that we feel is, for one reason or another, markedly kawaii. Really, we could not get luckier! Imagine, getting to work every day with things that you just love! Japanese fabrics are amongst the amazing range of all textile products sold on our online shop modeS4u, and we are proud to work with great Japanese fabric providers like Cosmo, Kokka, and Echino.
Being of very high quality is one of the defining characteristics of Japanese fabrics. This, of course, makes us and our fabulous customers very happy! Quality helps you greatly enjoy the fabric itself, plus any item you make with it, and throughout all creative stages involved in the making. Another defining trait involves the delightful textures of many structured Japanese fabrics, some of them are really unique, and this is probably the heart of the matter with anything we perceive as unmistakably Japanese: its fascinating uniqueness, together with a subtle and balanced beauty we could call aesthetic harmony.
Just to illustrate what we mean by all that previous musing on Japanese aesthetics — or, rather, on why we simply adore Japanese textile design and never get tired of it, we have selected some images from our shop, and some lovely pictures from our Japanese fabric provider Cosmo, of their gorgeous showroom. There is no doubt they will get the message through, not just because of their worth-a-thousand-words designs, but especially because we really like the Japanese motifs featured on many of their fabrics. Just check them out, and you will see kanji characters, kimonos, Mount Fuji, flower patterns with sakura, plum and chrysanthemum blossoms, and other traditional patterns like karakusa (arabesques), seigaiha (scallop), yagasuri (fletching) etc. Are you in love with Japanese art and design, too? You will then love many items in our shop! We invite you to comment here on what you like best about Japanese aesthetic traditions, kawaii pop-art included.
We will soon return to Cosmo’s showroom with another blog post, in order to show you more images of their wonderful fabrics. We think they are exquisitely exhibited, with many examples of beautiful accessories, home decor and clothes that will likely inspire sewing enthusiasts. In the meanwhile, we recommend that you take a look at the veritable lot of Cosmo fabrics we have in our shop. You will find many types of textiles there: laminates, oxford, canvas, linen, dobby, poplin, double gauze…that is real variety! Enjoy!
