Make a Flower Fairies Collage Quilt!

We just found a stunning free sewing pattern and had to share it with you, whether you’re an experienced sewing wizard or a confident beginner in the art of quilting! It is with great pleasure that we dedicate this post to another set of lovely fabrics in the Elderberry Flower Fairies collection by Michael Miller.

This specific quilt makes the most out of a gorgeous fabric with a collage-like or patchwork design: here, the well beloved fantasy creatures and their companion flowers cleverly populate a background of rectangles and circles adorned with different directional patterns, where the color palette features periwinkle, teal and different shades of blue, balanced with two different peach-pink tones. Check out the images below for a general view of the finished quilt and the collage fabric.

All textile designs in the Flower Fairies series revolve around the original classic illustrations created by Cicely M. Barker, mixing delightful fairy children and a truly exquisite rendering of many real flowers. She was influenced by previous artists belonging to the so-called Golden Age of Illustration, like Beatrix Potter, Kate Greenaway and others.

Here’s a purrfectly precious free sewing pattern!

Recently some gorgeous Michael Miller fabrics arrived in our shop, and we are enthusiastically admiring many of their new designs, knowing for certain that they will be a source of visual joy for as long as stock lasts! However, we also know many of our customers are great fans of this popular textile company, so these beautiful designs may likely be gone for good pretty soon. Therefore, let us make the most of them while we can!

Here is a great way to do so: a wonderful free sewing pattern by Natalie Crabtree for a meowvellous quilt. It uses a delightful panel fabric plus some other designs from the collection Feline Friends, which – yes, you guessed right – is all about the funniest and cutest cats. Check out the images below for an overview of the finished project!

You will need just a little quilting experience to succeed with this free quilt pattern. It features different sized fabric strips that frame the panel, together with some blocks using triangles and squares, and the clever balls of yarn marking two of the corners. Any beginner willing to practice newly acquired sewing skills will enjoy this pattern, and probably learn a few useful tricks from it. Take a look at adorable baby outfits from our customer, Maiwenn!!

Wow, these are just too cute for words! Check out the images included below this post, and you will understand why we are under a cuteness attack! Beware, as you may start to feel it after a quick peek, too. 🙂

We wanted to write a blog post sharing creations made by Maiwenn, a talented customer and seamstress from France, who has sent us many beautiful photos of her simply gorgeous garments for babies and girls, which she made in her atelier with our kawaii fabrics. Her handmade designs of sets for babies and sleeveless robes for young girls are superbly colorful, and look really comfortable too!

She uses a lot of shiny ribbons to top her multicolored creations for babies, which include the most adorable onesies, often paired with matching booties, sometimes with a matching headband of the same fabric. Given her predilection for flower fabrics and animal patterns in many different bright tones, we would say she loves colors dearly, and enjoys working with the most colorful designs. Regarding sewing patterns, she favors simple and elegant lines that perfectly suit her choice of quality fabrics, even when she creates robes for women, as you can see in her Instagram pictures. Hopefully she will keep on making delightful garments, and sharing them with us for a long, long time!

Make a huge watermelon quilt with this free pattern!

Are you a fruit lover? Watermelons are very popular because of their refreshing properties, which are mainly due to the high amount of water in their composition –around 91%–, but also because of their sweetness and delicious texture, especially when refrigerated!

You can turn them into juice or dice them in salads for variety, too. And, if you have some wonderful watermelon fabrics like we do, and some quilting experience, you can make a fantastic quilt with this free sewing pattern!

As you will appreciate in the images below, the quilt design uses mainly strips and squares, except for the small octagonal shapes seen in one corner of each block, that will require many tiny triangles. The geometrical disposition of the design, with straight lines that run the full length of the quilt, calls for accuracy too! Therefore, you will need to be a somewhat experienced quilter, and extra-careful while working on this project, which measures about 178 x 217cm once finished.

The Timeless Treasures fabrics used here belong to the Watermelon Party series, and the quilt itself includes a solid green fabric, a really fun design with watermelon items on pink, a gorgeous fabric in dark pinkish-red with black ants, a great contrasting pattern with watermelon slices on black, and more. We are adding here a few pictures of fabrics from our kawaii shop that may serve as backing for your quilt. Please, send us your own photos of the project if you decide to make it! We at modeS4u feel incredibly lucky because our work and products enable us to get to know such skilled and creative customers like Sara from The Hope Tree, who uses some of our designer fabrics to make her gorgeous handcrafted items. Take a look at the pictures included below: there you will find a few close views of some of her lovely purses and bags, where the cute fabric lining can be seen. Yay!!

For the outer layer she often uses genuine Merino leather in diverse colors, while the metal frame and fittings in an Antique Brass shade provide a true retro touch to her work. Both her bags and purses, which come in different convenient sizes, are an epitome of the fashionable contemporary vintage look, and they’re handmade in New Zealand! Her creations have it all, including a good dose of the exotic, and the feel of authentic craft work. 🙂

Choosing one of her creations as our favorite is an impossible challenge. Our great favorites may be the purse with seagulls in sailor attire, and the black handbag with flowery lining… but wait, the black purse with lining of black cats on white is just too cute… and her pale brown creased-looking leather bag with scooters is a top design! Which do you like best?

We really love to see the great sewing and crafts projects made with our products. We feel both happy and proud that what we sell can be turned into so many different beautiful things, that will bring joy both to their maker and final user…and now, hopefully, even to our readers! You’ll love this free sewing pattern for a sunset quilt!

Welcome again to all quilting lovers, especially those who are just starting to learn the ropes of the art! We have a new free sewing pattern to share with you! Enjoy some stunning nature-based Timeless Treasures fabrics, and celebrate the wondrous peacefulness of a vast landscape panel where quiet waters meet colorful skies, beautifully framed in different shades of blue. The finished quilt measures 1 x 1.25 meters, and thus will make for a great wall hanging, or a nice cover for a toddler or young kid’s bed.

This quilt pattern is pretty easy, as you will only need some fabric strips plus a few diamond blocks to frame the central panel asymmetrically. The designs used in the frame feature the surface of calm waters in the lower section of the quilt, just above the horizon line set in the panel, and a blue sky with white clouds in the upper part. The background is a deep dark blue and teal, a great hint of the midnight blue sky that will follow the gorgeous multicolored sunset. Check out the images below, where you can see an overview of the full design, as well as some pictures of the panel fabric, both a full view and a close up of the horizon.

We have added more photos of likely solid fabrics and lightly patterned fabrics that could be used as backing for this fresh contemplative quilt. Behold our breathtaking butterfly products!

It’s the end of the summer in many places around the Northern Hemisphere, harvest time of course, and the last chance to enjoy the graceful flight of butterflies until next spring brings back warmth and new beginnings in nature. We want to dedicate today’s post to these most delicate insects, which are an absolute visual delight, and sort of the quintessence of winged sophistication. Of course, we love to watch them in person when possible, in nature or in a butterfly house. If you have never been to one of these, don’t wait any longer! Try to visit one as soon as you can!

But any type of artwork featuring butterflies will do the trick when you’re not able to see them in person! Fortunately, they are widely used in artistic and creative depictions, and can be found in many different cute items around us. Our smart customers and followers know that we at modeS4u are pet lovers, in fact we just adore cute animals, and anything that features kawaii creatures makes our day! Well, this is precisely the case with the stunning sewing projects we will be sharing here today: they are lovely pet beds made with our animal fabrics by one of our very talented customers, Bi Ne! Check the images included below, and enjoy!

These colorful and soft looking creations make for a purr-fect retreat in a warm corner of any house, especially if we are talking cats and dogs. You can easily imagine your favorite furry friend lazily stretching or having a peaceful nap in any of them, right? They look really comfortable, smooth and super soft. Most combine two fabrics with very different textures, too!

Of course, many feature cat fabrics and other related motifs, like those with paw prints, but there is one with unicorns, and two with gorgeous paisley patterns. Which do you like best?

We feel really lucky that so many of our fabrics have found a new life as wonderfully beautiful pet beds thanks to her skill and creativity, and that we can show you some great pictures of Bi Ne’s projects. Enjoy this free sewing pattern for a watermelon quilt!

We want to share here a beautiful and fun free sewing pattern for a project that requires just a little quilting experience to succeed! You will get the chance to hone your basic skills with a fresh design that is all about watermelon fabric!

Check out the images included below for an overview of the finished project: a square quilt slightly larger than 1.48m which will finely decorate a child’s bed, or warm you up on your comfy sofa. The quilt uses Timeless Treasures fabrics, and starts inside out with a central pinwheel shape made of large triangles in light pink, dark pink with black ants, and watermelon slices on a black background.

Thin green strips surround this central motif, seemingly introducing the first of two main frames completing the design: it features light cream fabric squares with watermelon slices in each corner, plus a clever composition of triangles combining the green fabric and a super funny one in pink with lots of watermelon-ish items. Enclosing this, we see thin green strips again, and a final delightful outside frame: four fabric squares in dark pink with ants for the corners, joined by strips of green mini squares and watermelon slices on a light background.
