We’re so excited to announce that five friends of ours are taking part in the modes4u’s Halloween Sewing Challenge

Hello everybody! Today’s post is sure to especially appeal to those readers who love sewing and quilting, as well as those who enjoy classical paintings. It’s a lovely free sewing pattern designed by Elisabeth Hardy that uses Robert Kaufman fabrics to compose a quilted rug with perspective. With perspective? Yes, because its clever design represents a very flowery window with four panels placed in perspective, so that the blooming motifs framed by them acquire a certain depth.
In addition, this project makes the most of a wonderful panel fabric featuring four flower vase paintings by the famous French impressionist painter, Renoir. Of course, you can find this and many other Robert Kaufman fabrics in our kawaii shop. So to lovers of fine arts, fine fabrics and sewing machines… let’s get to work!
This pattern is very easy to make, as it is recommended for beginners. As you will see in the photos below, it uses strips of fabric and rhombuses to create a beautiful outer purple frame, while the inner frames around the flower vases are in tan tones. The final size of the project is about 91.4cm x 104cm, so it can serve as quilt for a crib or child’s bed, although the pictorial nature of the pattern may also encourage use as wall hanging, like a tapestry or a painting.

We just saw the new San-X design for their free December calendar sheet! It features both Rilakkuma young bear cubs, Korilakkuma and the kawaii Chairoikoguma… but they are up in the skies, hugging a huge soft star! And they are sporting small feathery white wings and fluffy pants, like a pair of baby angel bears. Check out the image below, you can download this lovely design for free and complete your kawaii 2020 calendar!
Of course, we immediately did some research around San-X’s news section, in order to know why Kogumachan and Korilakkuma have adopted this absolutely sweet and funny look. We quickly came across the explanation, which you can see for yourselves in this original San-X video. It is very short, but downright adorable, so we had to share it with you…enjoy!
The thing is, our favorite small bears are dreaming they can fly among clouds, play with the stars, and even fall asleep on a crescent moon, after wishing upon a shooting star. After all, they are very young, and probably under the influence of that magical Christmas spirit which is already around us all, with all its tinkling of little bells and twinkling of little stars 😉 We have lots of Christmas products, San-X products and more items available in our kawaii shop!
