We are delighted to show you some fantastic and beautiful creations made by one of our super talented customers, Estelle B.! In this post we wanted to show off some of the stunning dresses she has made. There are some different dresses to show, and all were created by Estelle using some of our textiles including Robert Kaufman fabric, Michael Miller fabric and Alexander Henry fabric. Come and see!!
With such wonderful weather, the patterns chosen by Estelle favor dresses with short sleeves or straps. They often feature a charming neckline on the back, where bows or ribbons are also included. Do you like bows as much as we do?
She used fabrics with very diverse prints, and in her pictures we can see how dresses made with the same sewing pattern look very different in style due to fabric colors and motifs. We especially love the sakura floral dress so elegantly worn in the photo below! It features one of our Japanese fabrics with cherry blossom flowers. Which is your favorite?
If you are looking for great quality fabrics for your own sewing projects and these images have inspired you, come take a look on our online store at the zillion available fabrics with flowers etc. Oh, and be sure to send us photos of your finished sewing projects, as we’d love to see and share them!
Alexander Henry fabric has a special place in our hearts, due to their superbly original prints that decidedly favor vivid and contrasting colors, and often feature skulls and other striking motifs set in wild dynamic compositions. We are not alone in this, of course: many customers buying fabrics from kawaii shop love Alexander Henry designs, which they use to make fantastic clothing items with a strong visual impact.
As you know, we love to see and share what you do with kawaii fabrics, whether you are a sewing beginner or an expert, so today it is with great pleasure that we bring here some great pictures by customer David A. from Austria. David is a dancing enthusiast, and he loves wearing customized shirts to dance! Check out below several examples of his dancing shirts featuring skulls, pin-ups, tropical flowers, all made with our Alexander Henry fabrics.
If you definitely want to stand out, these gorgeous prints are certain to help. You can make wonderful clothes with them, not only shirts but also skirts, dresses, summer cardigans, tops and trousers. If you prefer to stand out a bit less, try instead to make accessories like a handbag, or use these flashy designs and pair them with a matching solid color fabric.
We thank David for his photos, and hope they inspire you to get creative 🙂 Please, send us images if you decide to make any sewing project with our fabrics!
There is a fruitful past-present tension in fashion as well as in all arts & crafts that is often incredibly inspiring for any sewing project. The love of vintage fabric clothing allows for wonderful remakes, especially when retro sewing patterns meet contemporary fabric designs. This is made strikingly evident in many of the clothing items created by Franzi V. H., one of our very talented customers who has recently been sharing with us some great pictures of her creations. We are dedicating today’s post to her wild revisiting of classic dresses, skirts and vests inspired by the 50s, to which we give a heartfelt thumbs up!
Take a look below to see her updated versions of sleeveless dresses with lots of fullness, those oh-so-great vests (we do love vests!), her ample skirts seemingly made for dancing, even her sets of vest and matching skirt! She favors fabric designs with vintage motifs like classic cars and comic strips, and of course Alexander Henry fabrics‘ superbly cool skull fabrics, choices that do perfectly suit her style.
We believe that these uptakes on retro fashion designs are bound to be a total success if you stick to wearable classic clothing patterns that fit your fashion preferences, and choose the right fabric designs like Franzi did 🙂 How do you like them? We hope they help you get inspired to soon grab some of your favorite vintage patterns, and bring them to life in awesome projects! If you decide to do so, please remember to share your photos with us at info@modes4u.com , as we love to see what you make with our fabrics!
Yay!! Super talented Muriel from the sewing blog aupaysdesbulles has created 3 absolutely magnificent cushion covers with some Japanese fabric from our shop! The results are spectacular, and we want to say a big thank you to Muriel for this collaboration 🙂 For her professional-looking sewing project, she chose 2 delightful floral sakura flower fabric designs by world-class brands Alexander Henry and Robert Kaufman: a red one featuring Japanese flowers on branches in an Eastern painting style, and a design with small cherry blossoms on black.
Take a look at the images below, and you will see just how beautiful her covers look! She cleverly added piping all around the border of each cover, sewed perfect ‘invisible’ zippers on their backs…and even made a detailed sewing tutorial of the creation process! So now you can easily put all this into practice, and make your own wonderful cushion covers 😉
You know we have a soft spot for Japanese textiles and their astounding quality, as shown in our dedicated shop category, which we recommend you to visit if you are a fan too! We are in everlasting love with their designs featuring Asia-inspired traditional motifs, they look simply exquisite! Cherry blossoms (also known as sakura) are probably the most popular Japanese flowers, which tend to bloom around Spring throughout the country. This amazing sight attracts many thousands of visitors each year, and locals celebrate the season by meeting under the blossoming trees to enjoy their beauty, a custom called hanami. Have you ever been to Japan in spring? Tell us! And please show us pictures if you decide to try a sewing project like the one by Muriel!
Today we would like to share with you some beautiful pictures taken by modeS4u’s own Sandra Boch, during her trip to the 2019 International Quilt Market, held in late spring in Kansas City. This event is the only wholesale trade show for the quilting and textile industry worldwide, and tens of thousands of people have attended its latest editions.
There were more than 700 vendor booths in the huge exhibition that took place in the city’s Convention Center! The spring Quilt Market lasted several days, and was packed with interesting events. Of course, we took advantage of the occasion and paid a visit to some wonderful modeS4u fabric providers, like Alexander Henry, Cloud 9, Cotton and Steel, and Stof France. As you will see in the images below, there were beautiful catalogs to browse, and new materials to sample in many colors!
We also took lots of photographs of wonderful quilts, fabrics, clothes etc. We have included a few to go with this first post about the Market, especially those featuring all sorts of kawaii items and designs, which we know are some of your favorites! Just check out those gorgeous animal cushions, the incredibly artful rainbow and flower quilts, or the food and Japanese patterns. Aren’t they super cute?
As it happened with past editions, this was an exciting opportunity to know first-hand about some of the other world class firms working in the textiles industry. Do not miss our next blog posts about the Quilt Market, we still have lots of delightful pictures to show you!
