Backyard to Backpack duo receive kawaii goodies from modes4u!

Evie and Emmie are a mother and young daughter who have spent years travelling together – just the two of them! Then, the pandemic brought the world to a standstill. Guess what happened to our friends? They got stuck back in Australia! To help them get through it, we surprised them with some kawaii goodies! Watch their reaction below.

Oh, wow! Don’t you just love how much joy we’ve been able to share with our friends? Emmie’s face just lit up! This reminds us of why we continue to pour our hearts into modes4u. We love to see how happy our customers are when they share their unboxing videos.

Evie and Emmie’s reaction means a lot to us because we know how much lockdown has affected us as well as millions of families around the world. We are so inspired by these girls, their sense of adventure, and their reslience. In Evie’s words, here’s what happened:

In February 2016 we began our travels through Asia – which ended up being more than THREE YEARS of traveling with our backpacks and continued until Covid 19 brought us back home to Australia.

It was the best decision I ever made. We had the most amazing time and we developed a beautiful, close bond that I will treasure forever.

Since coming back from Asia we lived on Magnetic Island and explored Queensland for 18 months, and have now returned to Sydney to wait until it’s our time to travel again.

Evie is a published author who wrote the book, Backyard to Backpack. In the book, she tells us the origin story of this dynamic duo, and we learn how and why Evie and Emmie decided to start their travels this way. Aren’t you curious to learn what it’s like to travel with a little kid? We hope you explore the girls’ journey to your hearts’ content, and that you’ll be as energised by them as we are!

Emmie herself has created a gorgeous little project to support young people as they embark on new journeys. We love these pocket cards full of wonderful sayings and illustrations. We totally want a bunch of Pocket Powers, too! Mum Evie explains how they came about in her own words below:

Are you kids nervous about going back to school? Pocket Powers are for kids to keep in their pockets at school and read or even just hold when they need support, a boost, or miss their parents or carers.

Emmie first made her own pocket cards with affirmations and drawings when she was having a tough time at school last year and they gave her so much support when she was excluded and alone. They worked so well that she made them for other kids and now sells them too 💙

If your kids are starting school, returning to school, starting at a new school or just getting social, then Pocket Powers can help them through and also give us mums, dads and carers a little peace of mind knowing they have what they need in their pocket. Or you can pop one into their lunch box or pencil case for a special surprise during the day, or add an extra one for them to give to a friend who may need a little care.

Love that adventure for this outstanding young lady, and we think those cute cards would work with our bento boxes! If you are also in love with the kawaii things the girls opened in the video, we’ve gathered a few similar goodies we think you’d like. Enjoy!
