You could really get deliciously lost while browsing the zillion wonderful sewing and crafting ideas on the internet for fabric scraps! There are just so many beautiful creative projects out there, we simply had to share them! Today we have chosen another bunch of pictures for you, on how to recycle textile leftovers or fabric remnants to create small handmade items like oven mitts and pot holders, bookmarks, buttons or bobby pins, keychains, pacifier clips, cord keepers, on-the-go classic games like tic-tac-toe and tangram with drawstring bags, bi-fold wallets, phone wallets or plastic bag holders.
(However, we firmly believe our fabric scrap craze will not end here…we will soon be back with more delightful ideas: think coasters, scrunchies, purses, belts, lanyards, bibs, memory games etc. but also decorative flowers, wall art, lamp shades, garlands, book covers, necklaces…And we absolutely love bags, so you should probably expect an upcoming post on gorgeous handbags made from fabric scraps ;D )
Most of these projects are very easy, and require little or no sewing experience, so beginners can give them a go. They also tend to be really cheap, and eco-friendly, which is definitely a big plus! Besides, the ones we include here will allow you to enjoy these items yourself or give them as gifts to someone special! 😉 If you’re itching to give some of these ideas a go but need some small fabrics to work with, check out our fabric remnant bundle!
Go ahead and give them a go! Make sure you share with us some pictures of your creations, we would love to see them!
Oftentimes there is nothing better than a stylish and kawaii bag, don’t you think? Something beautiful for you to put things in, so that you know where they are, carefully and orderly kept, or to carry them around if needed, of course! These sorts of items are useful, convenient, pleasing to the eye, and are as cute or glamorous as you want them to be! Fabric bags and pouches are super convenient, they can be easily taken care of, and need little room to be put away when not in use. All in all, a perfect accessory!
This is why we love the amazing pouch creations by our super creative customer Estelle B. (make sure to check out her awesome Little Star Factory sewing atelier!), and here are the pictures she shared with us! Check out those lovely pouches measuring 21 x 15cm she made during the Christmas holidays with some of our fabrics…and the fantastic help of her older kids!
They feature contrasting patterned fabrics for the inside and the outside, looking a bit like an envelope, which closes with 2 or 3 funny snap fasteners in the shape of stars, hearts or circles sewn onto the thin flap. Isn’t this a great idea for anyone who wants to start sewing this 2020? It even makes some of us in the modeS4u team feel tempted to try! Choosing a favorite is just too difficult…besides, we cannot stop thinking of other kawaii fabrics and fabric remnants in our shop that would undoubtedly look gorgeous as a pouch! Take a look at Estelle’s pouches below!

Are you just starting to learn the ropes of quilting, and would like to make an easy but brilliant project? Would you like to create a fun and convenient home textile that is great for a young kid’s room? Are you looking for sewing projects that are beautiful, useful and playful? Here is a free sewing pattern by Elise Lea that you are definitely going to love! It uses Robert Kaufman fabric, specifically a panel fabric from their Let’s Go series, featuring colorful vehicles and a winding road panel, to create a really cute quilt…plus some soft toys to play along with!!
Yes, that’s right! This quilt will not only be useful as a decorative item, or to keep any young one warm in bed: it will also work as a soft playmat for some fun toy car racing. Therefore, it makes for a great gift that both parents and young kids will greatly enjoy! We love the car fabric included in the design, featuring construction vehicles and more! Take a look at the images below: you will see the full central panel fabric, with its 8-shaped road among houses and trees, as well as 8 different vehicles on top and bottom rows. We’ve also included suggestions for solid color fabric you can use for the borders and binding. The finished project measures about 142 x 173 cm (or 56 x 68 inches).
We hope you have just found your next sewing project! It is really very easy, in fact it’s recommended for beginners, and should not take long to complete. Do send us your photos of the finished quilt, we would love to see them!

We at modeS4u love to get creative with fabrics, like many of our awesome customers do, and we greatly enjoy working on our own sewing or crafting projects to help celebrate the season or any special occasion! This time it was Sandra, modeS4u’s founder, who created a beautiful advent calendar for her son, Mason, out of Christmas fabrics: check out the images included below for a good look at the wonderful result!
As you will see, Sandra made one small Christmas stocking for each day of Advent. On one side of the stocking, she used matching patterned fabrics in basic colors like green yellow, red, blue and white. The motifs featured were in a traditionally Xmas style: snowflakes, polka dots, little stars, Santa Claus, presents, Christmas trees, reindeer, polar bears, and penguins, some with winter clothes and accessories. These cleverly designed fabrics aptly included the date numbers 1 to 24, how convenient is that? Mixing them up meant Mason could have some extra fun and anticipation while looking for the right one! 🙂
Sandra added fluffy white fabric on the top of each stocking, and a tiny loop of string to easily hang them from their desired location. For the back, she used yet another matching fabric featuring Santa and the sweet winter animals over a dark blue background: this way, stockings can be just turned over once empty, but the fabric calendar stays whole and keeps looking gorgeous! How do you like it? Have you made your own advent calendar this year? If you have, please send us photos! We love to see and share your creations!

Check out how cute and colorful these stockings are!

These stockings are a fun way to celebrate Xmas with kids!

Fluffy!

Kids will love going through these stockings, collecting goodies!

Most of our readers are well aware that we at modes4u are art lovers, and so you will not be surprised to read about our wholehearted enthusiasm when recently receiving our first set of fabrics from a new European provider, Liberty Fabrics from Liberty London. Yes, that’s right: the luxury emporium funded by Arthur Lasenby Liberty in 1875, that today keeps selling all kinds of artsy home and fashion items from its heritage Tudor department store in Regent Street!
The legendary shop was a huge success since its very beginning, involving great names from the Arts & Crafts movement like W. Morris. It exerted a great influence in dress and interior design throughout the 20th century, e.g. in Italy, the Art Nouveau period is often called “Stile Liberty”! In the 1920s, Liberty started selling their own fabrics with miniature floral, paisley and abstract motifs that have become true icons of British textile design, and are known since then as ‘Liberty fabrics’. With such a long and successful history, it comes as no surprise that the Liberty print archive boasts more than 40,000 prints!
Thus, we are naturally most proud and happy to have Liberty Fabrics’ designs in our shop, and we look forward to a lasting and fruitful collaboration, so that our customers and ourselves enjoy first hand their truly iconic textile patterns! Take a look at the images included below for a few samples of their beloved fabrics, and let us know which you like best!
