He is a grey mole called Mogura, and you can watch a brief story of their friendship in this San-X Sumikkogurashi video
Naturally, the Sumikkogurashi are greatly enjoying their exploration of the underground maze. The lucky mole seems to find wondrous colorful gemstones whenever he’s burrowing! Being a bit shortsighted himself, his new friends have helped with tidying and cleaning up his abode. Now the safe habitat looks comfy and prettier than ever, and as you can see in the kawaii designs below, they have fun playing, reading, dressing up etc. What a fabulous discovery for the Sumikkogurashi!
