Look what we just found, a truly great free sewing pattern for a Christmas tree skirt! This is a pretty easy project by Marsha Moore, recommended for confident beginners, which means that even if you are not an experienced crafter with needle and thread, you will have a lot of fun while honing your sewing skills with this project, and probably learn a few tricks along the way! Wouldn’t it be great to create and enjoy such a lovely new Christmas decoration this season?
Some of the beautiful Xmas fabrics by Michael Miller can be transformed into an 8-pointed star-shaped tree skirt, in the most traditional shades of this beloved yearly holiday: green, red and white. The designs feature lovely Xmas motifs: Christmas trees and decorations, of course, but also delicate dot designs, and the cutest Xmas pixies that stand out so daintily framed in each of the 8 star points!
The finished skirt measures 127cm in diameter, or 50 inches. You will be using basic cuts here, only strips, squares, diamonds and rectangles, cleverly arranged to shape the big star. Check out the images included below for a good look at the finished item, a close-up of the pattern structure, and a few of our suggestions of other Christmas fabrics you can use. We hope they inspire you to give this project a go, and that you will soon have your own handmade Christmas tree skirt. Do send us pictures of it once finished, remember we love to see and share them!
