To all sewing beginners and fans, welcome again to our sewing posts after CNY: now is a good time to further improve your abilities! We found a wonderful free sewing pattern (the pattern comes in 2 parts: Part 1 helps you get started while part 2 shows off the rest) that will certainly delight any fabric, needle and thread enthusiast 🙂 It features a gorgeous design for a backpack, made out of some magnificently original Kokka fabrics. How do you like that? We absolutely love it!
If you check the pictures included below, and follow the link to the original pattern, you will appreciate that this backpack design includes a few interesting sewing ‘challenges’. For instance, you will have to sew a long upper zip for the body of the bag, and a short one for an extra cute outside pocket. Then, the backpack design includes an outer layer of beautiful patterned fabrics, an inner layer of solid color fabric lining, and the use of fusible quilt batting in between, as well of some fusible interface for all three pockets (as the lining features two inner pockets). Finally, there are handles and shoulder straps to make and sew!
Take on this sewing project and you will soon be enjoying and showing off your very own handmade backpack, and we bet those marvelous echino fabrics will surely make some heads turn! We’ve included other fun designs you can check out in case you want to try out this project with a different fabric!
