CNY is almost here! We recently learned that iSquare in Hong Kong is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a special installation that’s in place outside the mall, plus a series of events starting January the 8th, called “Mr. Men & Little Miss Chinese New Year Celebration”. Some of us at modeS4u recently spotted their street display, featuring the famous animated kawaii characters from the 70s and 80s, and wanted to share our photos with you! Take a look below, and you will find some close portraits of the funny Mr. Strong (red), Mr. Happy (yellow), Mr. Tall (blue) and Mr. Tickle (orange).
They look wonderful under the 6-meter-tall ‘Little Miss’ –er…not quite Little, hum?–, who is wearing a crown and all made up of yellow and pink flowers, for she will stand in her capacity as “Little Miss Princess Make-a-Wish Tree”, according to iSquare info 🙂
In line with the traditional meanings and icons most related to Chinese New Year, you can also see in our photos a beautiful white and orange dancing lion that seems to be flying next to Mr. Tall…who is holding a long string of firecrackers in his hand! As you all probably know, fireworks are an important part of celebrations, and were in fact invented in China. Wealth, fortune and prosperity being central concepts of these festivities, golden coins and decorations also have their place in the scene, and flowery Little Miss carries the spring ingredient to new heights 😉
