We were lucky enough to run into a decidedly kawaii CNY display in Whampoa Garden in Hong Kong, to celebrate the upcoming Year of the Rat. Lucky we were able to take some pictures to share here, so that you can take a look at the different elements making up the installation. There is no mistaking the Chinese New Year icons in the photos, at least if you are somewhat familiar with this traditional celebration: red decorations everywhere, trees with flowers such as cherry blossoms, fan patterns, floral decorations and stunning Chinese lanterns.
All these items look beautifully arranged in garden-like scenarios and pergola-like structures, where you can find some big pretty dolls in colorful flower dresses too. On this 2020, January the 25th is the chosen date for Chinese New Year, which of course means a new start, wishing for prosperity and luck etc., but is also an unmistakable celebration of Spring. You could tell that by simply looking at the pictures, as flowers are the most frequent decoration, found all over the display 🙂 Even if Spring seems a little faraway yet, it is always a great season to hope for after winter!
Will you be celebrating the Chinese New Year? What are your plans for this upcoming festival?
