We have some more images to share with you, of yet another kawaii installation that has been recently put up to celebrate Chinese New Year and the upcoming Year of the Rat! This time, the photos are of the Squly & Friends display at Maritime Square, here in Hong Kong. It will last yet for some time, so you can go take your own pictures and admire the decorations if you are around the city, at least until February the 9th!
We are gladly immersed in the longest festive period that can be enjoyed yearly in China. It starts with a week of preparation called ‘Little Year’, then comes the ‘Spring Festival’ or CNY itself (this year it goes from January the 25th to February the 4th), and afterwards we celebrate the Lantern Festival during four days more!
Do check out the images, and you will see some really cute animals: Squly is a squirrel, and its friends the lion, the bear, the kawaii penguins and the cute owls have come along, all dressed up for the occasion! These characters are original creations by a Hong Kong design studio called Chiilaku. How do you like them? Of course, the installation included other elements typical of the CNY celebrations: a couple of dancing lions in vibrant pink and lucky red, a beautiful kiosk with golden trellis decorations, the traditional lantern and blossoming cherry tree, and fireworks!

Squly dons a traditional Chinese outfit to ring in the new year!
