Yen Chow Street Hawker Bazaar is an incredible place to visit for anyone who loves to sew! It may seem a little different to other fabric shops or markets you’ve seen around Hong Kong but once you step into the covered area, you’ll find a lot (and we mean a lot!) of fabric, you’ll just want to spend all day shopping there!
There are a ton of different material types on offer here including cotton, tulle, corduroy, canvas, satin and more. You’ll certainly see all kinds of designs too. There is plenty of solid color fabric available, as well as those with metallic embellishment, character designs, intricate patterns and more.
You can even get really great sewing notions here such as zippers in all kinds of sizes, plus colorful ribbons, lace and more. In the photos here you’ll see oodles of them, it will be super hard not buying all of them when you go!
So whether you’re looking for fabrics for a simple sewing project or an elaborate costume, this is certainly the place to visit!
So how do you get there?
Yen Chow Street Hawker Bazaar’s address is:
373 Lai Chi Kok Rd, Sham Shui Po, Kowloon
One of the more convenient ways to get there is to take the MTR to Sham Shui Po station, use exit C2 and it’s about a 10 to 15 minute walk to the bazaar. Make sure to bring with you a tote bag so you have something to keep all your lovely fabrics in! If you’re looking to buy a lot of fabric, you might want to consider bringing a trolley (too).
