Already looking for something to warm you up? If the weather is yet starting to get really cold where you live, you may take advantage of the free sewing pattern we bring you today for a useful quilt in pure Arctic Circle style! Designed by Marinda Stewart, it uses a great Michael Miller fabric featuring stylized deer in a snowy landscape at night, with blue mountains, coniferous trees and ice crystals. The central deer fabric is framed by narrow blue and white stripey strips, then by wider side rows made up of star blocks, and more rows made up of two different Michael Miller animal fabrics with dark blue strips in between.
Blue is undoubtedly king in this easy sewing project, and dark shades of blue take up most of the quilt surface, which measures about 104 x 152 cm once finished. Not a large quilt, so it will make for a wonderful winter throw on your favorite sofa, a great addition to a kid’s bed or even a Christmas wall hanging. This quilting project is recommended for confident beginners. If you are new to 8-pointed stars, these blocks will definitely require some skill and care, but in the end you will have mastered a basic star shape commonly found in many quilts.
Hopefully you will feel inspired to try your hand at some cool sewing 🙂 Remember to send us your own pictures of the finished quilt! We would really love to see and share them!
